Dr. Shawn Allan Naylor, DO

I don't even know where to begin. I wouldn't be here if I had not found The Sound Clinic. I had pretty much given up when someone referred me (after I had just been praying for a miracle). That was 4 years ago. I was just here on the Internet trying to find a doctor locally for something that I need unrelated and decided to look up Dr. Naylor's reviews. I realized that I've never taken the time to publicly say THANK YOU to Sound Clinic, and to give hope to someone else out there that is losing theirs. I live in another state and travel to Denver for my care. The first two years were hellacious, I will not lie. You have to be willing to put in the time, go through herxing, devote your body, mind, and spirit to healing. After suffering with chronic Lyme and coinfections for 20 years, you have to allow time for treatment to work. There were a few times where I started to think Dr. Naylor's treatments were not working. I had hit a plateau and he showed me he was determine to figure out… what the glitch was. My own problem was getting rid of mold first. Once I corrected that in my house, it was back to work on coinfections like peeling an onion layer by layer. Another thing I want to rave about; I ended up hospitalized, and he got back to me very quickly with my questions and panic during that time. I wanted to make sure the doctors here were doing what he would agree with. He is always available for phone appointments. Yes you have to pay for that medical time, but it is worth it if you live in another state. It took 4 years, but I'm about 80-90% better... just doing maintenance now and being really careful with diet. Dr. Naylor is extremely passionate about his work. He is very well-researched and is constantly updating supplements and relaying new findings in the Lyme world. I just don't have the words enough to say thank you to both Dr. Naylors for having this practice and all you guys do. I would not be alive anymore if God had not guided you to make the Sound Clinic.

It seems to be more and more evident in the Lyme community that Dr Naylor is getting a bad reputation for his bedside manner. I’ve spoken to a handful of providers who have stopped referring to him for this reason. I unfortunately need to agree. While I can appreciate that Dr Naylor is willing to treat a difficult, controversial disease, and apparently has some success with some patients, my experience with him was disappointing. I had waited a long time to get into his clinic, with nothing to show for it. I think he knows a bit about Lyme. However, his focus on common co-factors that must be addressed in many, if not most, cases was underwhelming. He did not help me at all with detoxing, mold, or heavy metals, despite these all turning out to be significant players in my illness. He never offered lab tests to check for these factors, and in my opinion, muscle testing alone is NOT sufficient when dealing with a life threatening condition. I often got an inexplicable bad… attitude or curt response from him when I asked questions about the treatment. Ouch. The worst part of my treatment with him though is when he actually made a point (twice) of saying that most people with my symptoms don’t survive even with treatment. Really, dude? Since when is hopelessness healing? I was fully aware of the gravity of my situation and I certainly didn’t need him reminding me that my chances weren’t great. Has he heard nothing about the placebo or nocebo effect? Fortunately I found another doctor who is willing to answer questions without being threatened by them, and order labwork to identify the mold illness underlying the Lyme problem. Phew. I’d say, if you have thick skin and are willing to see other doctors for general health issues, detoxing, mold, metals, etc, Dr Naylor may be a sufficient Choice for treating Lyme. Just make sure to remember you have other options! You don’t have to be insulted to get well.

They fit me in even when they were no longer accepting patients. Dr Naylor listened to everything I said. I have been sick for almost 10 years & I feel like I am finally on my road to recover. Thank you!!!!!!

Dr. Shawn Naylor offers excellent and outstanding treatment! I have suffered from chronic illness for over 30 years and was treated by numerous physicians. Once I started to see Dr. Naylor ten years ago, I finally found a physician whose integrative approach to patient treatment is outstanding and I began to make genuine progress on the road to health! Family, friends, and acquaintances have remarked on my return to life. Dr. Naylor genuinely listens to and considers your concerns and truly lives by the hippocratic oath! Dr Naylor is an expert in Lyme, tick co-infections, and parasites. I have found his work to be transformational for my health. The protocols take some time, but I feel they make lasting change.

I have never met a doctor (or PA too) who works with more integrity than Dr. Shawn Naylor. His approach is common sense and smart. I had been seeing experts for years at some of the TOP medical centers in the country and NONE of the dozens could figure out why I was having seizures or lost my ability to walk (from time to time). Well, Amie and Dr. Kennedy did and they did it quickly. I've begun treatment and am starting to feel better than I have since 2007. I am so incredibly grateful.

Dr. Naylor saved my life. I had undiagnosed Lyme for years and with his diagnosis and treatment and open mindedness about the disease I am getting back to being healthy. I had a great patient/doctor relationship with him. He expects you to understand that the treatment is not always fun and you may feel worse before you feel better. He can seem cool but I went into every appointment with lots of questions and also and open mindedness to my treatment. Nothing weird, however. Lyme is a tricky, tricky disease and there is no one way to be treated.

I saw Dr. Lyndsay recently as a new patient just establishing care. I usually don't write reviews, but had a good experience and wanted to pass it on. I recently moved to CO from MI and hadn't really had a good experience in a doctor's office prior to recently. I was looking for someone that was a bit more holistic and found their clinic through my insurance. I'm a relatively healthy person, but was impressed with Dr. Lyndsay's "health wheel" approach that challenged me to look at other areas of my health. She has lots of tools and knowledge - both traditional and holistic. Only criticism is their phone system. Scheduling was difficult in terms of having to leave a message initially and getting a back.

I have been pleased with my experience at The Sound Clinic. I've recommended both doctors to friends. I appreciate the balanced approach, using holistic and conventional medicines. They care about overall health and healing, not just covering up symptoms. I have had several appointments and have never had to wait long. These doctors spend a lot of time with their patients. I've never felt rushed. The reason I'm only giving three stars is that it has been difficult to get Dr. Naylor's assistant to return calls, even recently. Needing to get in touch with the doctor between appointments is rare, but it happens.
