Dr. Sheena John, MD

I had seen this doctor for years based on comfort and familiarity but she brushed off my symptoms on numerous occasions when they turned out to be serious health conditions for which I needed surgical procedures. Thank goodness I followed up with a different doctor. Don't go anywhere near this doctor. You are literally taking your life in your hands.

Staff : Rude, would not take responsibility when mistake was done on their part, no communication from their end (Visited the doctor 4times in 2 years, no followup in past year and a half) Doctor : Good bedside manner.

Don't get me wrong I have not had a bad experience with Dr. John or with any of the doctors there except for having to always wait because the doctors always run at east an hour behind. But the office staff well that's where the problem lies. I have NEVER been to an office where the office staff is so unprofessional and rude. For starters the receptionists are also the medical assistants so they think that this gives them the right to yell and reprimand the patient for either arriving late or missing an appointment. On a few occasions I've had to call regarding a medication and was yelled at about an appointment when the previous appointment had nothing to do with the medication I was calling about. And God forbid you've had an emergency and had left the message with the answering service that you need to miss an appointment. Because then the receptionist is sure to reprimand you and give you your next appointment in a rude way. The office staff has always given me a rude attitude be… it over the phone or in person. I have even left a message with the answering service that I had to miss an appointment because of my children's health on a few occasions and when I've called back to make an appointment my call has been taken with a bad attitude and in a very rude manner. The receptionists also don't retrieve the messages from the answering service before they start seeing patients so when I left the message the receptionists/medical assistants had not gotten it when my appointment time came and I was called and left a very mean and rude voice mail. Honestly when I've had to miss appointments I had always dreaded calling to schedule another one because the attitude and rudeness I've had to deal with always ruins my day! Even the management leaves a lot to be desired. I called to speak to the manager regarding picking up my medical records to finally leave that office and instead she takes my call and answered with a defense for the receptionist/medical assistant. I wasn't even calling to complain about that receptionist. Other occasions that I have asked to speak to management instead of having to deal with the receptionist, I was given an attitude as well so It's useless. They have had a few wonderful people working there but these are few and smart enough to move on quickly. The answering service is also bad, I have called and left messages on some occasions to speak with a doctor and I have never received a called back, when I asked the doctor about this, Dr. John was never even aware that I had called. Bottom Line: The doctors are great, but unless you want to deal with a rude and unprofessional office staff don't waste your time going to this office.

Dr. John is very knowledgeable on my rare autoimmune disorder. She is very caring and has called me out of the blue to see how I was feeling. This was several month after my last visit with her. She listens and take the time to try to figure things out.

She comes across as very caring and sympathetic, HOWEVER, nothing could be farther from the truth. She was my primary care dr for 3 years and failed to diagnose, follow up, refer to specialists/lab work on a chronic disease. She writes prescriptions haphazardly, without knowing what they are, and will take you off of prescribed medicine abruptly if she feels she might "get in trouble" for over-prescribing. Completely inept.
