Dr. Sheila Allison

Dr. Allison will not treat you unless you do a 30 day hormone saliva test. This requires you to be off any hormone treatment. She discounts blood tests as inaccurate and too variable. I don’t think I can stop my existing hormone replacement, because of the severity of my symptoms. Unfortunately my appointment was a complete waste of time and money for me. I think her office should advise people that the saliva test is required and that you cannot be on hormones for it. The star rating here reflects my disappointment that she could not figure out any other way to help me. It is possible that someone else could have a positive experience if they did the saliva test.

She did a rectal exam before I could refuse. I felt violated at the end of the appointment. I will NEVER return to that office.

Rude, awful bed side manner. She is not a caring doctor at all.

Yes, you read that correctly, she made me cry. Ok, I have some anxiety issues, and maybe she had some good points, however she did not listen to me at all, scolded me for not getting a mammogram (I've had a ton, just missed the past few yrs), and berated a diagnosis I got from another doctor (I was too afraid to speak at this point).She made me feel so bad about myself. I'm an educated, employed 47 yrs old, I need a doctor who will show empathy and will listen, and not treat me like a child. Too bad, I think she's probably a good doctor. Never going back.

I've been going to Dr. Allison since my freshmen year of college. I love the fact that she has relationships with each of her patients. I can call Dr. Allison at any time when its dealing with my health.

I was seen by Dr. Allison for about four yrs and had anxiety at every visit. I watched her greet people differently than the way she greeted me. I guess if you were on her level then you received better care. She has no bed side manners at all. Everything that I have read about her is true. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who had horrible experiences because I thought it was just me. I dreaded my annual visits until one day I finally decided to change doctors. Duke family Now I know that my concerns were real because my new doctor listens to me and values me as her patient and not number. I now receive the proper care that I should have been getting if only Sheila would have taken the time to listen. However, I will say that the office staff were more friendly and professional than her.

On my initial visit Dr. Allison was very abrasive and harsh speaking. She seemed to lack sympathy and empathy. She seemed to have a "fighting spirit" which means she seemed to disagree with everything I said even if I was right. She would probably fight a brick if it stood in her way. She lacked patience when I asked her minor questions so I just could not even imagine how she would react with major questions. Good luck to anyone who decides to patronized her. Maybe you will have better experience than me.

Even though I'm a new patient to Dr. Sheila Allison she fit me same day to diagnose and treat my issue--am recently married and have had string of UTI's. . .she's super well educated and very classy--not at all aloof, just a very professional, poised an amazing female physician. I am recommending her to all my friends and colleagues.

I have to agree strongly with the other reviewers. I've always picked female GYN over males all my life and this doctor was worst than any male doctor I had ever seen. NO BEDSIDE manner and was completely rough. It was an unpleasant experience.
