Dr. Sheila A Shanahan, MD

My three children, now grown, all received excellent medical care from Dr. Shanahan growing up. My middle child received a spinal cord injury during birth. Dr Shanahan always was at our side, even meeting us at the hospital in the night for an emergency episode to insure the complicated medical history was understood by attending doctors completely and correctly. Our child’s situation tested her on numerous levels as a doctor and as a compassionate person. She always remained steady, well-informed, and SO supportive. She always provided accurate information, sound medical advice, and genuine caring connections. I consistently told others, if you can not reach me, I will agree with Anything Dr Shanahan recommends and I meant it. I trusted her completely with my children’s well-being, my most precious aspects of life. And wholeheartedly, I would do so too this day.

We love Dr. Shanahan. In my opinion, there is no better pediatrician in the DC area. Both of my children have been her patients for more than ten years (since they were babies). We switched to her when our previous doctor missed a diagnosis. Dr. Shanahan has never been wrong about anything. Her diagnosis are always correct, and her advice is right on target. She provides truly excellent medical care.

Dr. Shanahan is the smartest, kindest, most patient pediatrician (and doctor, for that matter) that i have ever met! we love her.

Wonderful visit for my 18 month old son who had a complicated history. A thorough and detailed history was taken and an equally detailed exam done which relaxed my son. A comprehensive treatment plan was outlined. I am so happy I switched to Dr. Shanahan's care.
