Brought my 14 yr old son to speak to someone of a 3rd party, more or less to vent and talk about his low self-esteem. After he spoke with her, well all spoke together and some items were brought up from years previous that were of no danger to the child. And she even assured and promised that what was spoken wouldn't leave the room. A week or so later, a person from CPS knocked on the door to talk to him about what was discussed. After that the child had a breakdown because he was betrayed by this physician after she told him that it would go no further. This is exactly why early age suicide happens, because the child feels that their guilt affected the family that loves him dearly. And that he thinks it his fault that this all is happening, all because he spoke out to someone he thought he could trust.

When a physician listens to a stepparent over the biological parent, there is an issue. She was very kind, but didn't give enough time to address my concerns for my child. She allowed the stepparent to control the dialogue in the appointment and pretty much referred to me for my opinion at the end of the appointment. When I asked to speak with her afterwards, she declined. She seems to know what she's talking about, but she should be taking everyone's concerns into consideration especially when dealing with your child.
