Dr. Shilpa Jayant Saxena, MD

I saw Dr. Saxena as a patient during 2015 and 2016 and could not recommend her more highly. She is incredibly knowledgeable but also has the compassion and empathy that healthcare so often lacks. If you're looking for a functional medicine physician in the Tampa area, I highly recommend you visit Dr. Saxena. You won't regret it!

Finding a doctor that is willing to actually listen to your problem and comes up with several different ways to treat it has been such a breath of fresh air! She looks at the mind, body and spirit when she comes up with a treatment plan. I am so grateful to find a doctor who's first choice is NOT medication!

Dr. Saxena is a unique doctor who will spend time with you helping out. I was greatly disappointed when her practice recently moved to a new partership that does not take my insurance. We had an normal appointment that let an associate tell me the bad news. Shows a lack of respect and professionalism.

We have been patients of Dr. Saxena's for a couple of years. We loved going to her, and recommended her to ALL of our friends and family because she took a "natural" approach to healing and integrative medicine. She also knew us and remembered previous appointments etc. But as time went on, she soon forgot things that we talked about in previous appointments, didn't follow up on treatments and completely overlooked important areas of our health. Soon we were unable to even see her and could only get appointments with the PA who never knew what we had already tried and repeatedly kept telling me to detox and drink more water. After a year of even crying to her that I was not getting better, I finally went to a specialist on my own and it was found out that I actually had a mechanical problem with my stomach. All the detox, fish oil, probiotics and water drinking (her prescriptions to everyone I know who goes to her) in the world would not have solved my problem. Then came the $15… a month charge to be her patient. And the final problem is that they no longer take insurance. They will be "out-of-network providers". Which might be okay, but they charged my insurance company $2,000 for our last visit with the PA who just read us results from a blood test. I don't know why these changes have happened but it is very, very unfortunate.

Before even being able to be considered as a new pt. you are required to pay an annual fee. This dr. came highly recommended & appeared to have the same views as our family in regards to healthcare so went ahead & paid the fee. Other than the nurse practioner the office staff is rude & rushed. I've been told 3 times how busy they are & still haven't gotten the necessary answers nor medicine to help my child get better. I am looking for another dr. for our family. Someone who hopefully has the time to properly diagnose the issue and the time to follow thru w/ the necessary treatment!!!

Caring, integrative medical doctor, using more natural approaches. Has an alternative vaccination program, if desired, after a through consultation. Her assistants are wonderful. She has a nutritionalist on staff, as well as a NP (nurse practitioner) who specializes in cardiology and is very good! She offers community classes on various topics. You may have to wait to become a new patient, it will be worth the wait.

Her staffs are the most rude people i've ever seen in a doctor's office. Dr. Saxena will charge you and WILL not explain why she charged you.

I must say, that this is the first Dr's office that I have ever taken my 3yr old son to where we actually make a game plan to health, instead of using pharmaceutical band-aids and being told that "he will grow out of it". A caring staff, knowledgeable practice, and welcoming atmosphere rank this office a breath of fresh air compared to our long chain of medical experiences over the past 3 years. I highly recommend seeing Dr Saxena and her staff. I only wish we had known her 3 years ago.
