Dr. Shirley Penkar, MD

We’ve been going to Dr. Penkar for 8 years now. She has delivered two of my babies. She is so kind and thorough! You never feel rushed and to this days she asks about my kids and my husband. She’s the best!

visited her after experiencing a painful cyst. She was very late to my appointment and didn't even listen to my concerns. She had a judgemental attitude when I asked her questions about other forms of treatment. She also was very arrogant and made me feel like I had to get on birth control even though I told her it made me depressed. She clearly doesn't care about her patients. Other doctors in the past have prescribed other medications or introduced me to other ways to treat my PCOS symptoms. I would never recommend her to anyone! worst OBGYN experience i have ever had. The staff was friendly though.

She has no bedside manner of any kind. Which i found surprise for a individual who study woman health.

I have been a patient of Dr Penkar's for several years now and I absolutely LOVE her. She has helped me through 2 pregnancies, the first of which was pretty complicated. I had weekly visits to the high risk OB and through it all Dr Penkar always took the time to explain everything to me and her calm demenor helped me remain sane throughout. Luckily my second prengnacy was much smoother but Dr Penkar really stayed on top of everything to make sure things went well. I recommend Dr Penkar to all my friends and family and many of them are now her happy patients too.

Our visits with Dr. Penkar were always very thorough, and she always made sure to put the health of my wive and our unborn child first.

PLEASE STAY AWAY.worst ever. never listens. very arrogant, hasty pre=determined decisions never cared. very bad staff as well.

I selected Dr. Penkar for my OB based on her schooling and credentials. She is great on paper, but awful bedside manner. For my pre-conception appointment, I had asked about vaccinations, zika related travel, and nutritional deficiencies. She rolled her eyes a couple of times at me, asked me the same questions over again (she seemed to not be a good listener) and then cut me off before I could finish describing my concerns with pain. During a pelvic exam, she must have had some concerns because she asked for additional tests, but didn't share any reasoning with me. Didn't share much at all, she was rather short and impatient to get out of there. Her staff are very very sweet, a little bit harder to get a hold of over the phone, but sweet when you finally talk to them. I do not feel comfortable and at ease with Dr. P to deliver my future baby, and will be switching doctors. The rest of the practice is awesome, very professional, lovely building and technology amenities.

Exceptional. Very well educated ( best schools in Texas), confident and young... Which I prefer, since my last two OB's retired. She is knowledgeable and compassionate. Gave me a diagnosis I didn't want to hear but throughout the ordeal she always remained positive.

No bedside manner. I didn't really feel as if she genuinely cared about me as a person. I had to switch since my previous doc won't be delivering any longer. I'll be looking for a different doctor.

I don't know what these others are talking about but I absolutely LOVE my doctor, Dr. Penkar, and I can be very picky. She is very knowledgeable and thorough, and makes sure you know exactly what's going on. She also has a very calm, professional demeanor. She's well- spoken and knows what she's talking about. Did I mention I love my doctor? She always makes decisions that are best for the patient, and always makes sure you're okay. She made the decision to perform an emergency c- section on me which I wasn't happy about at the time, but afterwards realized that she potentially saved my son's life, due to him being stuck in the birth canal and his heart rate dropping. She did great and I healed great. I recommend her to anyone. She makes me happy!
