Dr. Shirley Yeerue Wang, MD

My arthritis started in my late 30’s and progressed to a level that was difficult to do housework and care for my family. This went on for over twenty years and all my providers would say it was just osteoarthritis and I tried everything and none provided sustained relief. After Dr. Wang and her team became part of my health partners and identified the autoimmune component of my arthritis and ongoing pain, my life changed. I have responded so well with the recommended regimen and rarely would I wake up from my joint pain now. I wish I have met this team decades sooner!

I can’t believe her ratings are not a solid five. I rate her at 10. I’ve been waiting for so long for someone to listen to me and she did it felt so good she took time to explain things I love Dr. wang!!

I have seen Dr. Wang since she began her practice in Wichita for my psoriatic arthritis. After her husband’s job relocation to KC I was seeing another provider in Wichita until my own job relocation to KC allowing me to continue the care from Dr Wang and her team. Dr Wang is not just a medical provider who looks at you and writes you a prescription. She demonstrates her care and expertise by her willingness to go the extra miles for her patients. Each patient is not just a diagnosis to her. Dr Wang knows me as a person and understands how my disease had impacted my life and works with me to improve the quality of my life by equipping me to be in the team with her in managing my autoimmunity. When my disease became active again, she was ready to optimize my regimen by adding a biologic onto my existing medication. Since I’m super needle phobic, the team she partners with, Senderra specialty pharmacy, helped me to obtain the oral biologic thru patient assistance program while my own… insurance company denied the treatment and did not provide me with any non-needle choices nor resources to obtain the oral biologic. So...I only have good things to say about this service and it is free to me. The hard work was done by Dr Wang and her team in submitting ample information on my condition and its course so that I was able to obtain the treatment needed. Dr Wang’s team may be small when compared to a large Rheumatology group but it is very efficient for a single provider. I know her front desk lady very well and she has been with Dr Wang since her Wichita time. With the increasing amount of paper work(electronic I should say) and correspondence to insurance companies and to other providers I was told she is now working behind the scene to help with patient care. I enjoy the new front desk lady as well. She is bright and very helpful. I can see she is a positive addition to her team and if I may say so, she helps to put some basic respect and courtesy a specialist like Dr Wang and her team deserves. Dr Wang and her team, in all they do, show humility and caring. I wish we will have more providers and clinics like hers!

At first glance - knowledgable and kind in exam room...BUT...terrible communication and followup - on average takes more than 48 hours to respond to emails on patient portal, often does not directly address patient questions or concerns directly, skirting around the answer or ignoring altogether. Difficult to reach and slow to respond in an emergency/urgent situations. DOES NOT do her own prior authorizations nor double check the work of the company that does leading to denials, appeals and delays. Pushes to send patient prescriptions through Sendera specialty pharmacy despite patient insurance pharmacy or local pharmacy preference - causing further delays in ability to get medication in a timely manner. Incredibly rude sister is office manager/scheduler and talks down to patients when they have issues or problems. Wish I had read the online reviews before going. Also appears to have hopped locations locally and in Wichita. Why so many moves?

I saw Dr. Wang for a couple of years. She was mainly interested in getting me started on a biologic. I am a tricky diagnosis, because I am seronegative and have symptoms of different connective tissue disorders. I have mixed feelings, because she was willing and eager to treat me, when other doctors had turned their backs on me. I have extensive joint damage and am crippled now because of that. When Remicade made me ill, she turned her back on me. Didn't visit me in the infusion room or schedule follow-up visits. Very disappointing experience for me after she raised my hopes. Now I'm more gnarled and crippled.

I spent a year looking for something that was wrong with me that everyone said was just in my head. I went to one visit with Dr. Wang, was diagnosed, and then was confirmed with a blood test. I have been going to her for 9 almost 10 years now and have never had a problem with her! In fact I Drive 8 hours just to see her since she moved from Wichita to Olathe. She has given me the ability to live my life again!

I have had my disease since I was 18. I was mis-diagnosed. She took one look at me and told me what I had. She said she had done lots of research but to confirm it with biopsy through my family doctor. She was right. I also know I had the disease for at that time 18 years so to expect a quick recovery or fix is ridiculous. That is why a lot of people complain about doctors. People need to be realistic. Regardless since she does research every night she helped me slow down my disease it took 3 medicines but she didn't give up. I am finally able to do more and find my limits and the medicine I take is helping. Praise GOD for Dr Shirley. Roxann

Do not go to see this doctor if you have any form of arthritis.

zThis Dr is a comback specialist, she will never figure out what is wrong with you but will sure send you a dirty letter when you miss an apointment

I saw Dr. Wang about twice a week. She is very friendly, willing to spend time listening to me, and her diagnosis is more accurate compare to other doctors. I would recommend Dr. Wang to all my friends and family.
