Dr. Shirley Anne Willis, PhD

Dr. Willis was my therapist for many years, I want to say just shy of 10 years. She was my comfort and escape during my parents’ divorce. I love how honest she is, and she also has a wonderful way with words that makes you think deeper into the issues at hand. She keeps thorough notes, and she even pulled out my file after years of not seeing her when I went back for her familiarity. I live a good distance away and that is the only reason I stopped seeing her. Once you step into her waiting room, you are immediately at peace. It’s very comforting and beautifully decorated. She has fidget toys to play with and magazines to read. Once she calls you back, you are transformed into the most warm, welcoming, and comfortable room where you feel safe to talk about anything. She is so warm with how she greets you and she makes it her mission to make you feel at ease. Her decor inside her office is stunningly cozy. It has warm soft lighting and soft couches as well as pillows with interesting… textures if you are the type to fidget with nearby items for comfort. She is so wonderful with children. She really makes them understand that they can open up and be respected as well as paid attention to by an adult. I will always fondly think of Dr. Willis when she comes to mind. I felt a connection with her that made me feel like family to her. If you’re reading this, thank you, Dr. Willis. Thank you for being my safe place growing up in a toxic environment. You made me feel loved and cherished when my world was upside down. I will never have the words to express how much you helped me.

Beware of this woman! I was more messed up when I left than when I started. She is wicked. This site won't let me tell the truth about her...lol!

I consider myself very fortunate to have found Dr. Willis and to get in when she had an opening. I’ve been to a number of professionals over the years and Dr Willis is one of only 2 who actually ‘gets me’. My degrees are in Psychology but you know what they say about people who self diagnose! Dr Willis let’s me lead and take the conversation where it goes which I find refreshing. She is the very first one to give me permission to feel the way I do without judgment of any kind. I can understand why she is usually booked solid. A win/win for me.

So blessed I found Willis. She never seems surprised by what I say or how I say it! She provides a safe environment and gives feedback in a non-judgemental way. Moving through a different phase in my life and she offers insight and support. She validates me, that I'm ok, but will offer alternate perspective, as well.... Overall, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr Willis and look forward to my visits.
