Dr. Shona M Martin, MD

Dr. Martin has been my Primary doctor since 2013 and she has always given me clear instructions, listened to my concerns, and offered above and beyond assistance when needed.

I am the son of a 91 year old mother who has the misfortune of being " cared for " by Dr. Martin. Over the last several years my mother has had extremely high blood pressure which has meant many ER visits and stays in the hospital. Dr. Martin's attempt to get this under control is to constantly prescribe different medications , then tell her to " double up on it " when its not working to lower the pressure. With a recent hospital stay, my mother was instructed to " double up on medication " and take your blood pressure on the cheap device she owns on a daily basis. AND - come back to see me in 3 months. Absolutely horrible health care advice for a 91 year old woman with failing mental abilities. Not a moment too soon to be removing my mother from Dr. Martin's poor care.

This is a 'puppy mill' style practice, meaning that its office's practices favor quantity of bodies *seen* over quality of care. This is evident in everything from excessive wait times to the gross lack of priority placed on client health. Unnecessary tests are a requirement if you want to continue being seen; anything that runs up the tab is fair game. Truly important matters such as timeliness of necessary prescriptions and taking time to hear, understand, and attend to a client's needs, are left by the wayside. Instead of engaged healthcare, a river of prescriptions are slung at symptoms. Dr. Martin's nursing staff are pleasant and if you get Dr. Martin on most days, she is too. There have been awkward visits when she stepped into the room inexplicably addled, combative, and ultimately just bizarre. The office staff are a hit and a miss. Her office manager is way off her game and confusingly accusatory when handling normal client relations. I would not recommend this practice to… anyone who had another option.

dr. martin is very thorough, friendly and easy to talk to. she listens. her staff is also very friendly and professional.

Will never ever see this doctor again. She is rude and non-caring of patients.

Dr Martin is an excellent doctor as is her nursing staff. She listens to your problems, diagnosis' accordingly. She only runs labs every 4-6 months, which I think is acceptable to know how your health changes.

Consistent feeling of being rushed threw my apt, every diagnosis she gave me was incorrect. Ran unnecessary tests every visit.

I think Dr. Martin is a good doctor . Unfortunately her staff is not. My complaints are too numerous to put here..but in good conscious I would not recommend DR. Martin for the fact that her nursing staff is lacking. I will be changing doctors as soon as I can find another decent one.

It seemed as though she wanted to get onto the next patient as soon as possible and did not help me at all with the problem/illness I came in with. I had to go to a different doctor to get actual help.
