Dr. Shreyaskumar Rameshchandra Patel, MD

Can not imagine anyone giving Dr. Patel any rating lower than a 5. He has been my Dr. for 14 years and not once have I ever seen anything but professional courtesy. Several prompt surgical referrals and certainly no rude or irrational behavior. Yes, sometimes you have to wait for your appointment but he may have been spending time with a new patient which caused him to be delayed getting to follow up appointments. He is great!!

After I got my appointment with Dr Patel I read the other reviews posted here and almost canceled my appointment because the reviews were so terrible. My local oncologist told me that Dr. Patel was the leading sarcoma specialist for my particular disease and to keep my appointment with him. I am so glad I kept the appointment because Dr. Patel was just the opposite of everything I read in the bad reviews. He had clearly reviewed my medical records before he came in. He was friendly, kind, explained this recommendations thoroughly, answered my questions, asked if I had more questions and spent the time needed. He was very confident in his opinion and when I left, I felt like I finally had the answer I was looking for. He said "first, do no harm" - and his recommendation for me was clearly based on that statement. He may have just saved / extended my life! Thank you Dr. Patel!

Dr Patel is an extremely arrogant personality who is quick to anger and will raise his voice and even curse at you if you don’t blindly go along with what he says. He does have experience with sarcomas, however he does not know how to properly communicate with his patients. He is very hard to get in contact with and you won’t ever see him in the hospital (he will send someone from his staff). Overall, I would say it would more than likely be best to avoid Dr Patel and possibly MDAnderson Houston location. We did end up going to MDAnderson in the end, but went with the one in Florida.

I travelled with mu husband from Villa Rica, Ga to Md Anderson in hope for sarcoma treatment. I paid 7 days hotel at Hyatt hotel. I was very excited until I meet that dr. He was very arrogant, disrespectful, no compassion. I wanted beams proton as indicated on their web. He wanted me to do chemo. He joked how my head will be bowl like my husband head after chemo. He's very toxic for such a great hospital. Please stay away from that nasty man!

I'm so grateful I could go to MDAnderson for my surgery. My whole medical team it's awesome but Dr. Patel. He does not listen and lacks of compasion. He is very rude. I wish I had read his reviews before having my first appointment.

How did this jerk become a physician at the number one cancer center in America? No compassion, he gets loud and tries to speak over you. Thinks he is always right! I will never ever be seen and spoken to like that by him again! He is not worth me stressing myself out and trying to save my life, while doing so.

Does not like to be questioned and or provide answers. Does not want to refer patients to Oncology Surgeons for second opinions. Spent most of his time making off color remarks and or jokes. Why does MD Anderson employ Patel?

Would not recommend this Doctor. He is always very late in keeping appointments. Recommended clinical trials that could have been damaging and found to be unnecessary. Very poor attitude and abrupt. Easily takes offense when questioned.

As title says, I don't get the negative reviews. I came over from Austin for a consultation. Dr Patel explained everything from the 30,000 foot level to down in the weeds details. He asked if I was unclear about anything he described and several times asked if I had any questions. He said the Austin oncologists were right on track and he had complete faith in their treatment plan. He said contact him anytime with further questions. The only downside to my visit was the wait time. Mt appt was at 2, didn't see him until 430.

Shrey is an awesome Doctor. I have read people complaining about his bedside manner and I say to them you have bigger issues to deal with. He was straight forward with me. Stage 4 sarcoma, 10% chance to survive. Fine. I wish the first hospital I went to was able to actually tell me those things. Seven months later I was cancer free! Even then he told me the cancer would most likely be back in the next two years. Fine, thanks for being honest with your opinion. That was 16 years ago. Since then I married my then GF and we have a beautiful 10 year old daughter. Thanks Shrey for giving me the correct diagnosis, treatments and the gift of time.
