Dr. Shu Chin Kuan

Horrible, she refused to provide a timely referral for a traumatic hematoma. After a two-week nightmare, my son required surgery due to her inaction, costing us $21,000 in medical bills.

She was my sons doctor from 3 months till 10 years old. We haven't had any reason to visit the office we had no idea she was planning on shutting down! So I try to make a 11 years check up with his pediatrician and guess what... she permanently closed her office. What. Really.... not a email, phone call, letter in the mail for any kinds of heads up. I had truly respected her to the fullest till this happened. I'm stuck in a wow with her. And will never truly trust again in patient doctor relationship. My kid and I were both lost for words. Thanks alot doc... you did a wonderful job keeping patients and parents informed. I hope the new clinic works out for ya.

This doctor is horrible with parents who wish to be in control of their child's healthcare options and decisions. She bullies parents into giving their child unplanned vaccines. She argued with me in front of my child about my objection to have my child vaccinated during a sick visit. She quoted false information to me, saying that I could not enroll my child into school or day care if I didn't have her shot records with all required vaccines. That was a bold face lie or else this doctor is also stupid and ignorant as well as she is rude. Find another doctor and stay in control of your child's health. Do NOT let a doctor, any doctor, especially this one take your choices and your rights to your child's health away from you. Do your research on vaccines! Know you have the right to refuse them and that Texas allows exemptions for religious and reason of conscious and that you CAN and WILL be allowed to enroll you child in school and daycare as long as you have the proper form… (can order online - google texas vaccine exemption form) It takes 10 days to get it and order 2 for every child because the schools sometimes "lose" them and you will need to have another one ready and handy.

Very Pleased with Dr. Kuan. She has an excellent bedside manner, great credentials and most of all my daughter really likes her.

Poor customer service. I can't rate the doctor because I didn't get in the door. First of all, I scheduled an appointment and had to ask the receptionist if she wanted my daughter's name. Second, my husband showed up to the SCHEDULED appointment only to be told that the Dr. does NOT accept patients on Wed afternoon. The receptionist scheduled us!! I called to talk to them about it and they acted as if it didn't happen. They didn't even ask if I would like to reschedule!

I was so unpleased by this doctor my child had a ongoing problem with allergies but I dint find out what it was till I moved pediatricians. Dr. Kuan never ran any test I just had to keep coming back to address the same thing to spend money and nothing was ever resolved. I feel like when you talk to her she doesn't REALLY listen. my new doctor solve everything I love the new pediatrician I'm very happy now.

Excellent experience

We had just moved to Houston with 3 kids. 18 mths, 4 and 10 year olds. Dr. Kuan was recomended by a friend at work. We had been to several doctors by that point and Dr Kuan was the only one who correctly diagnosed our son. He is doing great now. Great doctor, we'll recommend her to anyone.

She is very rude and she is not good with kids. She does not know what she is doing and it seems like she is a doctor only becuase of the money.She gets mad if you ask her a question.Overall bad doctor!her staff is very nice though, I think they are trying to make up for the doctors' bad bedside manners.

Dr. Kuan is by far the most brilliant physician we have had. We have lived in many countries and seen many doctors and none has correctly diagnosed our child's illness as well as she does. Furthermore, unlike most other doctors, she takes the time to understand the situation, symptoms, she listens and tries to cure the illness instead of just treating the symptoms. Besides treating our child, her advice and care has made as a much healthier family!
