Dr. Sihun Alex Kim, MD

Not the best bedside manner, but he seems like he knows what he is doing.

I had nasal septoplasty and turbine reduction with the doctor. I have had nothing but extreme nasal dryness since. The doctor reduced the inferior and the middle turbinate's. I believe he should not have touched the middle turbinate's at all, and maybe even done less on the inferior turbinate's. These are structure's once removed cannot be replaced. I wish I did not have the procedure done.

Dr. Kim is an amazing doctor. He is informative, patient, careful and experienced. He did an excellent job with my son's surgery. I am so thankful for his expertise!

But that wasn’t what what I needed! Dr. Kim was smart, direct, and helped me out a great deal! I don’t need him to hold my hand, I need an excellent ENT and that is what I have. Please don’t misunderstand, the guy isn’t a jerk by any means ...simply not fuzzy. I’m good with that!

Do you want a Doctor who dashes out of the exam room as you are trying to ask questions? Then Dr. Kim just might be your man! I was coming in for a post surgery exam a week after the procedure. I had not rinsed as I was supposed to because I had not gotten the instructions. (Yes Dr Kim, I went home and looked at the paperwork you gave me before the surgery and I did not have the green sheet you said I was given). I looked through all the paperwork, NUTHIN'. As I tried to ask questions, he took off like a banshee and I had to yell down the hall, "Is this medication OTC or prescription?!". I had more questions that his staff could not answer, such as "When can I start running again?" , "How about lifting weights?", "Can I use my CPAP machine?", "Do I have to continue sleeping with my head elevated?", "Will there be another Star Wars movie?", but as you can imagine, he never asked if I had any questions before he bolted out of the room. The truth is it's my fault, I dared to blink my… eyes and he took the chance to cut out. Now of course other ENT offices have answers to questions like this online for their patients, not this guy though. Makes me think; I probably should have shopped around. Maybe you should too, I am sure there are other ENT practitioners who could spare an extra 2 minutes to make sure your questions get answered and perhaps at least pretend to care about your welfare. But if that is not important to you, ....

Dr. Kim stated that my daughter needed her adenoids and tonsils removed. I am all for doing what is necessary, but my daughter never has had any throat related infections so I went for a second opinion at Lurie's children hospital. I was told by a very highly experienced and recommended ENT that she doesn't need her tonsils out and nowhere near close to needing them out. That is so ridiculous that Dr. Kim is in this for the money and doesn't care about the pain my daughter would've endured for absolutely no reason whatsoever. He was also very rude and condescending to me the entire appointment. One of the worst bedside manners I have seen in a doctor. And I had to go to fertility doctors before and they are pretty bad, but he was worse. Seemed annoyed and rude the whole appointment. Please, I urge you to never see Dr. Kim with Affiliated ENT in Woodstock and McHenry.

DID A GREAT JOB ON MY NOSE PASSAGES .

Called for an initial consultation for 2 of my kids. I am a cash paying patient, so cost is very important to me. I was quoted 119.00 per child and told I had to pay in full the day I took in my kids. I agreed. After a 15 minute visit with the doctor I was handed a bill for 505.40, a whopping 267.00 overcharge. When I told them what I was quoted, they said they were only going by the "codes" they were given and that they would talk to the Dr. about it. Well, I had given my word I would pay on the day or service so I did - and guess what? I have emailed and called the practice offices about this and no one has responded. So I filed a complaint with the BBB and disputed the charge on my credit card. I will also contact the IL Atty General about their deceptive practices. I would give them less than 1 star if I could.

I had several visits and had surgery performed by Dr. Kim. I had surfed the net prior to surgery and was expecting Armegedon. Surgery went very well,Dr. Kim was great, concerned and dedicated is how I would describe Dr. Kim.Reception people you need to watch caredfully such as transcribing medical information and any documentation. Always double check to be sure.

Nasal/sinus surgery. Dr. Kim carefully explained the entire surgery days before and again just prior to the surgery. His staff called the next day along with the surgery center and did a great follow up the following week. Would highly recommend this doctor.
