I love having him as my doctor!

First let me say this review is based on two visits and numerous phone calls. I'm not sure if I will use this office to deliver my baby or not. I am researching other locations now. I heard great things about Dr. T. and this office would be my first choice if he was the doctor I saw. Unfortunately in this office you are shuffled between 4 doctors and a Nurse Practitioner so no telling who you will get. They say this is because on your delivery day you will know the doctor. This is great for them but for me this was terrifying. This is business as usual for them but there are a lot of personal things going on in these appointments and it is hard enough for me to get to know 1 person let alone 5! I had complications during my pregnancy and tried to get in as soon as possible as I am considered "high risk", they refused to see me before 9 weeks. After several phone conversations about a possible miscarriage they simply drew blood and put me on medication, without ever seeing me.… By the time I saw the Nurse Practitioner (not even the doctor) they did an ultrasound and said they didn't think the baby was developing anymore. To make 100% sure I had to wait another week to find out for sure. Had they got me in at 6 weeks they would have known then that the baby wasn't developing. Instead I had to wait another month to finally "officially" miscarry. This has been torture! In addition I left a message for them to call me because I had questions about the miscarriage NO ONE has called me back. Staff is not pleasant as I waited an hour past my appointment time on my first visit and they did not apologize or say anything to me. During my visits it seems like this office is concerned about servicing as many patients as possible rather than taking time to get to know their patients. I debated on whether or not to write this review as I only had two visits and my pregnancy did not end well. For what it is worth these are my thoughts.....

My son was born 12 years ago, but the pain caused by Dr. Thiagarajah and his team has flared up yet again for a specific reason. Apparently -- though no one even mentioned it to me at the time -- I tested positive for Group B Strep at 6 months pregnant. So I am in labor, and this rather critical bit of information finally comes to Dr. Thiagarajah's attention. Repeat: I am in labor. When...I SHOULD HAVE BEEN RETESTED FOR GROUP B STREP in my last month of pregnancy. So all of a sudden, I am being pumped full of antibiotics. Not knowing if I still carried the Group B Strep...Dr. Thiagarajah could not be sure it hadn't been passed on to my baby, either. Having eschewed any and all drugs during labor, I now found myself agreeing to my new son being pumped full of antibiotics as well, in order to avoid a worse fate, i.e., a spinal tap and/or indefinite stay in the NICU. All this was horrible horrible (I'm leaving out details). And it could have all been avoided if Dr. Thiagarajah had done… his job and performed a routine Group B Strep test in the office prior to my going into labor. My son screamed his first six weeks of life. Thankfully, I attachment parented, which I feel helped. But fast forward to today. After consulting the dentist about my now 12-year-old son's yellow teeth, we figured out that the yellowing is probably due to the antibiotics at birth. You don't have to believe me, but my son is so handsome...except for his yellow teeth, which is a detriment as it is quite noticeable. Needless to say, no amount of whitening will help. Veneers seem to be the only solution. Each tooth costs about $1200 according to my early research. I don't know. You can take your chances on Dr. Thiagarajah. Maybe he will take an interest in your pregnancy. He certainly seemed bored my mine. And his nurse, who might have caught the "oversight," went missing half way through my pregnancy. Maybe she was pregnant herself. But it felt like pretty shoddy professionalism, if you can even use that word.

I love Dr. T to death. He is the most kind and compassionate doctor I have ever known. His reception staff leave something to be desired. They are usually busy shooting the breeze with one another when you walk in and don't get you back to a room for at least 20 min after your appt was supposed to begin. I think a lot of the wait problem is because Dr. T is so wonderful, that everyone wants him as their doctor. I wouldn't want anyone else delivering my kids.

One of the kindest men you will ever meet. Problem is, he doesn't actually treat high risk patients. Twice I was admitted to Martha Jeff and twice transferred to UVa because MJH can't actually handle problem births. If you are high risk, just start at UVa. It will be better for your baby.

While I LOVE Dr T, there is much to be desired for his office staff. I spent alot of time in the waiting room while I was pregnant just to get a 5 minute visit.

I completely agree on the other person's feedback. When you enter the office, you are met by a NASTY AND RUDE RECEPTIONIST who refuses to even greet you. It also doesn't help that you're separated by a glass window. And expect to wait a really long time to be seen.. BUT on a positive note, the doctors and nurses are EXCELLENT!!!

Dr. T is great! His office staff has much to be desired. Not a lot of professionalism, sorry to say.
