Dr. Sonia N. Tolani, MD

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Tolani’s office that has compelled me to leave this review. My appointment with the MFM doctor earlier in the day ran late, which caused me to run behind schedule for my cardiology appointment. I immediately called the switchboard, who informed me they had spoken to the office staff and assured me it would be okay to arrive as long as I was there within 30 minutes. Given that I have fibromyalgia, commuting is already a painful and difficult experience for me, so I made every effort to get there as quickly as possible. When I arrived at 4:57 PM for my 4:30 appointment, I checked in at the front desk. The receptionist initially indicated that she didn’t think the doctor would see me but said she would check with the office staff. Before that happened, another front desk staff member came out and laughed when she heard I was there for a 4:30 appointment. She condescendingly remarked, “It’s 5 PM,” and when I explained I had called… ahead, she dismissively replied, “Well, you didn’t talk to me.” Despite my visibly emotional state and explaining the situation, she refused to even ask the doctor if they would see me. I was then told I would need to reschedule, and the next available appointment wasn’t until January 23 — a wait I find entirely unacceptable, especially given that I scheduled this appointment back in August. To add insult to injury, this front desk staff member flippantly remarked that waiting until January “wasn’t really that long.” The lack of compassion, communication, and basic courtesy from this office is appalling. Not only did I leave without being seen, but I am now dealing with additional physical pain from the commute, all for nothing. I was treated with zero empathy and blatant rudeness while I was literally crying at the front desk. I will not be returning to Dr. Tolani or anyone in her practice due to this experience, and I strongly urge others to think twice before seeking care here. No patient deserves to be treated with such a lack of dignity and respect, especially when dealing with complex medical issues.

Felt rushed and like I was an inconvenience after 5 minutes. I was just on obstacle to whatever she had to do next. I was scared and looking for guidance and felt like she was more of an adversary than an advocate. It was a time consuming, expensive and sad experience. You deserve better. Please find care from someone else.

Overall this Physician provides no follow up. She simply has no interest in what she is doing. Very rude,doesn’t want to answer any questions. In general going to her was a complete waste of time and money.

I came in as a post heart attack diabetic that had been treated by a different cardiologist. Dr. Tolani spent ample time reviewing my case, making changes to my meds and making herself completely available for questions. Each visit she is prepared and up to date to review current lab work and make further changes. The care has been exceptional.

One star is too much! Tolani intervened when associate David Engel was unavailable, and proceeded to berate me for being on Obamacare/Medicaid, as if I had no right to be using the cardiology practice because it wasn't insurance she respected! "You should be going to the free clinic" she said! I couldn't get a word in with her, which placed me in harm's way because I was having a blood clot I had never had before that was cutting off feeling and use of my foot. She just wants to argue and insult the patient. As I tried to explain my symptoms, I was cut off and asked "Why are you bothering us with this?" The hospital brags about his woman's skills and innovations. But I encountered an individual with absolutely no regard for the health and well-being of patients. I was left in pain with no plan or coordinated treatment!

If you or your family have Brugada Syndrome. Look elsewhere. It's a fatal genetic heart defect that she has no respect or clue about.Being Brugada causes cardiac arrest and death it's best to gamble your life elsewhere .Just because she's in NY doesn't mean shes good.On the contrary. ..they are cocky and full of themselves and don't care for their patients
