Dr. Sumit Rajagopal Naig, MD

I am in my mid-50s and had never seen a psychiatrist (or psychologist) previously until my Internist recommended Dr. Naig to treat a condition that my Internist believed was solely in my mind and not the result of any physical problem. Although I agreed to see Dr. Naig, I was highly skeptical that he could do anything to resolve my health issues or that my ailments were solely in my mind. To my surprise, I have found Dr. Naig to be helpful. Dr. Naig is extremely nice, has impeccable credentials, and is very knowledgeable about the various types of medicines that exist. He prescribed a drug that actually has made me feel better and for that I am pleased. I strongly recommend Dr. Naig.

I first met Dr. Naig when I was having a complete breakdown. From our very first session I felt like he understood exactly who I was as a person and was able to not only treat me, but reassure me that what I was going through now would lead me to a brighter future.. one where I understood myself and my anxiety even better. I felt well taken care of by the frequency of visits he recommended, first every 2 weeks, then a month, then 6 weeks, then 2 months and so on. This meant I was never left on my own and we were able to work together to increase my medication when I needed a higher dose, then eventually decrease it once I had worked through my darkest days. He also is extremely responsive on email. I highly recommend Dr. Naig.

Dr. Naig's calm, helpful demeanor helps facilitate patient's sharing what they are experiencing. He is exceptionally skilled at prescribing effective strategies for managing problems and feeling better! His medication and therapy recommendations have been spot on, and he provides guidance for continued wellness.

Dr. Naig has been extremely helpful in treating my anxiety during a relatively short period of time. Through telehealth visit, Dr. Naig has been thoughtful, constructive, and outcome oriented, while being extremely transparent about short-, medium- and potential long-term outcomes and paths of treatment. Dr. Naig is kind, personable and courteous. He is both attentive and informative. He really helped by son through some difficult transitions from high school to college during the pandemic. He is very accessible and cares deeply about his patients. Highly recommend!

Dr. Naig is such a wonderful doctor. Despite previously “doing the work” with qualified doctors in LA, SF & NY, I started to believe therapy could not actually work for me…. then I met Dr. Naig Unlike others, Dr. Naig did not take a “one size fits all” approach to my issues. Once he had gathered enough data from me, he suggested we try a different medication (than that which my previous psychiatrist had put me on), as it was his opinion that I was not suffering from just depression but rather a combination of depression, anxiety and OCD. The positive effects of the new medication were felt within weeks — life, my paralyzing stress and negative thoughts began to lift and days started to feel less scary and more manageable. I got so comfortable with Dr. Naig as my psychiatrist that I asked to see him in a therapist capacity on a weekly basis too. His guidance and expert knowledge have over time trained me to think differently. And I would go as far as to say that some areas of my… brain feel like they have been rewired and I can now lead a life in which I feel in control, not one where I am constantly worrying, people pleasing, being walked over by others. I am hopeful and so grateful for this new outlook on life. I have often said “thank god I found you and for this medication I am on” to which Dr. Naig replies that the end goal is for me to eventually not need the medication at all.
