Unkind, demeaning and dismissive. Find any other "dr"!

I regret that it has taken me almost 3 years to write this review, but there was good reason for that, and it has nothing to do with the surgery that I needed to have performed in 2016. Dr. Rasheid was attentive, caring, and always professional. Saying that her performance was stellar is not an overstatement. She was recommended to me by Dr. Wiegand, as I required two surgeries at virtually the same time, involving a urologist as well as a colorectal surgeon to undo a mess I had gotten myself into six months previous. I would, without hesitation, recommend Dr. Rasheid to anyone. If I could give more than five stars I would!

I don't understand why there are negative reviews for Dr. Rasheid. She performed my surgery a few years ago and I am still doing well. The first surgeon I saw wanted to do a procedure that would have been worse for me and he told me my case was complicated. Dr. Rasheid advised that she has worked on worse scenarios and developed a plan for a better outcome. I had a near panic attack before surgery and she was amazing in calming me down. She made me feel very comfortable and at ease without relying on anti-anxiety drugs to do it for her. The staff at the hospital told me she is very meticulous in her work. She personally came and saw me before discharging me from the hospital. At the post-op exam, she was very attentive and personable. I would not go to anyone else!

While I very much appreciate this doctors help & plan of attack for my disease, there are a few things that concerned me: 1 - during the surgical consult, instead of asking if I exercised (I am overweight, and have already lost 30# in six months from my disease.) she demanded that I begin exercising immediately. Since she didn’t ask prior to making such a presumptive statement, I kindly told her that I do in fact exercise regularly, and have been for a while, however my condition causes quite a bit of pain with even the slightest ambulation, and I had explained that to her while discussing my symptoms. Did she listen? I felt that her statement was not only presumptive, but poorly delivered, with a lack of compassion and bedside manner. I understand her concern from a clinical standpoint, however since she holds a PhD, my hope was that she’d look and analyze my entire clinical information, and not just bits and pieces. 2 - I didn’t feel heard. While she validated that… clinically, surgery is necessary, it was clearly evident she didn’t listen to my symptoms, only looked at me from a clinical standpoint. While I appreciate the straight forward approach, my definition of a good surgeon is one who’s humble enough to listen to the patients symptoms and concerns, and to help alleviate those in order to help heal the patient. I was treated as if I haven’t been living in my own body all of these years, and that because I’m not a doctor, I don’t know anything. That’s kind of the non verbal message I received. I left her office wondering if I could trust her with my care and upcoming surgery, due to the presentation of her insensitivity and lack of bedside manner. Unfortunately I am relying on her 100%, to perform this much needed procedure without complication. Because I am a medcaid patient, my options are unfortunately limited within the realm of doctors whom are in contract with my insurance. I think the MD who came to this doctors defense here is this forum, is just as rude and presumptive by insulting others for their grammar mistakes. It makes me wonder why this MD has the need to feel so superior to others, especially medical patients. It’s this type of superiority behavior that concerns patients like me, whom have many legitimate medical needs and feels lost in the Medicaid system that they are stuck in, due to all of their illnesses.

We really appreciated the time Dr. Rasheid spent to explain everything. Plus she went above and beyond in the surgery.

I had surgery to remove a pre-cancerous polyp. Dr. Rasheid was professional, highly skilled, responsive.

Dr Rasheid did an exception job for me. The colorectal surgery and aftermath were handled smoothly.

I couldn't ask for better than my experience with Dr. Rasheid. Her fellow and staff was all great

I agree with who you refer to as her colleague. She has cured me! And others i know. My hospital stay was great in her care, and her fellows and residents were great.
