I have suffered with IBS issues my entire life. Over the past 10 years or so it got disabling. I tried everything, even went to Mayo Clinic. I could not find a doctor who cared to find the root cause. They merely wanted to medicate symptoms once they occur (which of course actually fixes nothing). I had given up on the medical field. I first went to Dr. McKelvey on the urging of my daughter last year. She assured me that Dr. McKelvey would not think I was nuts and label me with anxiety-induced IBS. And, she didn't. She immediately said waking from a sound sleep at 4:30 am with diarrhea and vomiting wasn't anxiety. Yes! Someone who would believe in me. Dr. McKelvey checked everything and she searched until she found the root cause of my IBS. There is a cause! I am no longer left in hopeless chronic intestinal distress. I hugged her and thanked her. I can now work on getting healthy because I know what triggers my problems. Thank you, thank you, Dr. McKelvey, for… caring enough to look for a fix.

Dr. McKelvey is kind, compassionate, helpful and wonderful. She has performed a colonoscopy and upper GI on me, and I would never go anywhere else. Her office staff are helpful too, scheduling me quickly. She is friendly and answers all my questions. Truly professional and wonderful.

I have been treated by Dr. McKelvey for the past eight (8) months. At my very first visit, she carefully reviewed my medical history, patiently answered all my questions, adjusted my medication and scheduled appropriate diagnostic procedures. From my first encounter and continuing through all subsequent visits I have been very impressed with her knowledge, thoroughness and very pleasant demeanor. She is simply amazing. And the entire staff at the Barrington office is also very friendly and helpful as well. Under Dr. McKelvey’s excellent care my health condition has improved dramatically.
