Dr. Stephanie Wellman Costa, MD

I should have read prior reviews before making and appointment with Dr. Costa. At both of my appointments, I was treated rudely and made to feel like an idiot. I was referred to Dr. Costa by my doctor’s assistant. Dr. Costa disregarded my doctor’s diagnosis and recommendations and told me she could not help me unless I went off the medications I had been taking. Because I was worried I had been prescribed the wrong medications, I followed Dr. Costa’s advice. I had labs taken and followed up one month later. At this appointment, I was treated poorly for arriving 10 minutes late. I was asked if I had a busy day and then told she would need to get to a meeting. I was not shown any of my labs but was told that I was in menopause, and my estrogen was low (completely opposite of what my other doctor shared with me). I am left feeling confused about my diagnosis and will definitely search for an HRT physician who can better help me. Dr. Costa definitely needs to work on her bedside manner and… come down from her high horse. What a waste of my important time.

Dr. Costa was rude and abrupt during both interactions I had with her. She would not take her time to listen to me when I said I was experiencing extreme pain and instead lectured me about her “rules for healthy living.” When I came back in for a follow up to again talk about my pain, she asked what I had done about it, when I followed through with all her lovely “edicts”. She did not take the time to discuss or even SHARE the options I could take. It would behoove this doctor to learn better bedside manner and understand that not all patients have her clinical background. Patients experiencing something might need further discussion. After moving to another city and getting a doctor who actually listens to me, I learned I had endometriosis. It’s a shame that I became another statistic for a commonly undiagnosed condition simply because this provider would not listen.

I have been seeing Dr. Costa for my OBGYN needs since 2001. I've had several appointments with her and went through my one pregnancy under her care. She is gentle, caring and nonjudgmental and I would highly recommend her to any woman looking to find an Awesome OBGYN.

Have seen this physician twice and both times she was abrupt and was not interested in my input for my care. Totally lacks people skills and messed up a prescription so I had to call back the same day to get it corrected. Fortunately, the nurse who took the call knew how to get things corrected immediately and was very nice. To get test results, the patient must call but no copy of results will be provided without paying for them (really, for two pieces of paper.) Will not be returning to her or this practice.

When I first moved to Columbus I needed an OBGYN. A fellow co-worker who had a high risk pregnancy referred me to this office. I have been seeing Dr. Costa since I became pregnant with my first child over 5 years ago. I was so lucky and blessed to have her deliver all three of my children. I have developed a relationship with her and trust and respect anything she tells me. I honestly trust any of the Dr's at this practice. If you need a new Dr I highly recommend visiting Kingsdale OBGYN and requesting her. I wish she could be my family Dr as well as my OBGYN!

This was one of the worst experience of my life. It's quite possible that this woman is in the completely wrong medical field. I went in due to some concerns. This was my first time at this practice and my first time ever meeting this woman. I was not even examined. I was lectured on my diet and weight the entire time. Being a size 10 doesn't seem to me as someone who is morbidly obese! I still have no idea what is wrong with me. I left the office humiliated and immediately called a different doctor, with a different practice and got an appt. The office manager was very apologetic. Just not sure anything with change. There were two people working the front desk but only one person willing to help the patients.

Dr. Costa was my doc for years before I got married and wanted to start a family. Once my husband and I decided to start a family and had a little trouble, she layed out a plan, timing and next steps that we followed until - yay! Baby! My husband also appreciated her manner, explanations and expertise. After moving away from Columbus then moving again, I needed temporary care for 6 weeks in the middle of my second pregnancy. Dr. Costa and staff were extremely accomodating, welcoming me back and maintaining my wellness checks until I moved on to a permanent location. They made the paperwork and process easy for me. Thank you!

I have been a patient for 6 years. Dr Costa is one of the best doctors I have ever had. She is caring, detail oriented and goes that extra mile for her patients. I would recommend any of my friends or family to her.

Dr. Costa and her staff(amy) and nurses are great. She just delivered my second baby and I could not ask for a better group of people. I feel safe with her and I know she will make the best decisions for my baby and me.
