Dr. Stephen J Freyaldenhoven, MD

Dr Freyaldenhoven is an excellent surgeon. Because of him I am alive to write this. I was told after my surgery by a nurse that I was lucky he was my doctor because his outcomes are the best amongst his peers. I had an aortic dissection which is a death sentence. The procedure went very well and I was quite pleased to write about it on both facebook and a AD website. Later, when I needed a valve replacement, to his credit, Dr Freyaldenhoven had the integrity to suggest another (excellent) doctor who was more familiar with my needs. That he had the skills to give me the best possible outcome in an emergency was phenomenal. That he had the integrity to point me in a different direction was evidence of a man who has mastered his craft and has an exceptional level of care for his craft and his patients.

Dr. Freyaldenhoven was straight forward, knowledgeable, sincere, caring, and self confident. He explained my situation, and he took appropriate actions to get me into surgery as quickly as possible. He used visual aids to show me what I needed and how he would fix it. He calmed my nerves, had an excellent bedside manner and a calm, reassuring demeanor. He was down to earth, not arrogant or demeaning in any way. He was very professional as well. I cannot say enough good about him as my heart surgeon; I would recommend him to friend or family.

Dr. Freyaldenhoven performed a valve replacement and triple bypass on my husband just before Christmas, 2013. He did an excellent job of explaining the procedures. The surgery took just exactly the amount of time he predicted. He was quick to let me know how it went, and again careful to answer my questions. He never appeared impatient. We are grateful for his skill. Our only difficulty was that the appointment times for followup were just impossible for us to get to. His office staff allowed us to work that out with our regular cardiologist, but certainly did not display the same kindly patience that the doctor does.
