Dr. Fries moved to Boulder with his wife Holly in 1980 to begin his practice at Boulder Medical Center. The FriesÂ’ and their four children Laura, Carolyn, and twins Mitch and Maggie are an active family and enjoy living in this part of the country appreciating the good weather and beauty of the Rockies. Dr. Fries also enjoys gardening. He has found Boulder to be a rewarding place to practice Pediatrics primarily because parents here place a high value on quality medical care for their children.

MEDICAL TRAINING AND SPECIALTY
Dr. Fries received his pre-medical and medical training from Ohio State University in Columbus. He earned his Medical Degree in 1977 and subsequently moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for his internship and residency at the University of Michigan. He began his practice at the Boulder Medical Center in 1980. He is a clinical faculty member at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and remains updated in his field by regularly attending conferences and …seminars.
Pediatric care is unique in that it is one area of medicine that focuses on well care. Emphasis is placed on the monitoring of child development and the prevention of illness and disease. As a Pediatrician, Dr. Fries is trained in the general care and treatment of children from infancy through adolescence. He provides anticipatory guidance for children through services such as well-baby care, diagnostic evaluations and screening programs for vision and hearing. His interests within Pediatrics include evaluating children with learning and behavior disorders which interfere with school performance. According to Dr. Fries, another reward in being a Pediatrician is that Â“I am able to observe the fruits of my labor years longer than some of my other medical colleagues.

Dr. Fries is an amazing pediatrician. He identified allergies with my son when my previous pediatrician was unable to figure out why my son was losing weight and having health issues. He has helped us over the years with all levels of health issues over the years and has always been right on in his

I love Dr. Fries! I myself was a patient of his until the age of 19, and now I have a two year old who has been seeing him since she was born. We look forward to our appointments with him. He is very caring and compassionate, everyone on his staff creates a welcoming enviornment. I drive from another city to make sure my daughter can see him, you will love him for your family.

Dr. Fries is a terrific doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone who has a child. He is very informative and will throw in a joke here & there. Great experience for a first time parent.

Dr. Fries has always attended us in a professional and caring way. He has diagnosed things that specialists were not able to identify. He is very knowledgeable and right on. I find him funny and the kids are comfortable with him which is important. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Fries has been attending our two boys since they were born and he is just great. He is straightforward and reassuring in his diagnosis and manner.

Dr. Fries filled in for our pediatrician while she was away for a couple days. His bedside manner was deplorable. Our preemie son was losing weight and Dr Fries gave us values for minimum feeding amounts and weight gain. Our son did meet each of those values, but the doctor then decided it wasn't enough because some staff member had reported to him (without noting anything to us) that our son looked tired. The feeding tube was probably appropriate, but I object to the numbers he gave us to reach, which now seem to be just busy work, and the fact that he wouldn't stand up for his own diagnosis, but instead kept referring to second hand reports from a non-medical(!) member of the staff. And I especially object to him coming in the next day saying "It looks like [staff member] was right." Insensitive, unnecessary and rude. How can I trust him to take care of my kid when he can't take responsibility for his own diagnosis and when he gives meaningless milestones to keep the parents… busy? We were kept out of the loop on our son's condition and we are not happy.
