Dr. Stephen Andrew Hickner, MD

I found Dr Hickner through a natural family planning site. I struggled with getting pregnant a second time after it was so easy with my first. Doctor after doctor put me on different meds, U of M fertility center gave up on me and said IVF was my only chance. I’m so glad I found Dr Hickner. After two surgeries to remove endometriosis(that I’ve never been diagnosed with ever) I was pregnant shortly after! He’s a great doctor.

Dr. Hickner is an outstanding physician and surgeon. He is a true expert in his field and is compassionate and understanding, taking the time to listen to his patient's concerns thoroughly. He performed surgery on me and I knew after my first introductory visit that I would be in good hands with him. I felt very confident in his abilities, which made the surgery much easier. He explained everything thoroughly before, during and after. I highly recommend Dr Hickner - he is an excellent doctor!

Dr. Hickner has been amazing, I have had 2 miscarriages in the past where my former OBGYN told me it was just bad luck, even with running tests. On my first visit with Dr. Hickner, he did an ultrasound and found I have PCOS and endometriosis. Instantly, told me to change my diet to the paleo diet and things already started to get better. Before I went to him, we have been TTC for over a year with no luck. One round of femara, and boom. Now my pregnancy is progressing well, and Dr. Hickner keeps a good eye on it with tests. With each result, he calls me! He explains everything to me and cares. I would recommend him to all my family and friends.

I was pushed out after getting a diagnosis. I was told I was there too long and needed to come back. I've never been kicked out by a doctor before, ever - especially after giving them a diagnosis. For someone who has been trying to conceive, it is an emotional process and I didn't receive any type of support from the doctor. After throwing around a diagnosis , I of course had questions but once I declined a progesterone shot was pushed out. It made me feel like my visit was all for money and there was no care for the patient. also, the PDF report I received about the summary of my visit had some incorrect information which doesn't make me feel confident about this provider or his services.

Dr. Hickner is a good listener and compassionate person. He is also very thorough with his examinations. He found a tumor on my kidney before I even knew I had it. The malignancy was removed before it did any damage and my life was saved. Praise God! And thank you Dr. Hickner.

As a Catholic, finding an NFP-only doc was a priority for me. Dr. Hickner spends extra time looking at my charts and helping me navigate tricky situations. He is a gift!

My experience with Dr. Hickner (through 5 pregnancies, 2 miscarriages and 3 deliveries) has been excellent. I've found him to be caring and professional, knowledgeable and respectful. Dr. Hickner is a gift to our area also because of his knowledge of natural family planning. He knows women deserve better than harmful chemicals or devices to space babies, and does the work necessary to offer a better option. Dr. Hickner is truly a pro-family, pro-woman doctor.

Dr. Hickner always listens to everything I have to say and makes sure to take the time to answer any questions I have. I've never felt rushed or like just another patient. He truly cares about his patients and that is evidenced by the fact that he will not prescribe birth control because is cause such damage to a womens physical, emotional, and spiritual health. I've always appreciated the fact that he trust in my intuition as a mother and in turn I know I can trust in his expertise.We are lucky to have such a wonderful doctor!
