Dr. Stephen Martin Knox, MD

I saw Dr. Knox with a complaint of chest pain. “Do you go to the gym?”, he asked. I told him that I did, several times a week. “Do you get on a treadmill or an elliptical trainer?” I indicated that this was the case. “Then, you’re not having cardiac issues and I’m not wasting your insurance company’s money by doing any testing. Besides, do you know what an EKG looks like in a patient who has a heart attack five minutes before they actually have it? It looks normal!” May I interject at this point that I, myself, I am a physician. And may I add now that for weeks after this appointment I had a massive heart attack. It would have been well within my right to have sued him for his negligence and arrogance. I have assiduously directed patients away from Dr. Knox who I consider to be incompetent and dangerous. Be warned!

Such a bright and focused physician. I feel I am in capable hands and that he will refer me to the best if I need something beyond his scope of treatment

Seemed emotionally volatile. While I gave him high ratings initially, after having been to see him several times, it is now a "no" vote. I returned to my previous MD, even if it meant a much longer commute. As for his staff, I noticed there was a very high turnover. I grew not to be surprised. It also might explain why people previously reported that they (the staff) didn't seem to be efficient. If there is a constant turnover, like I saw after just a few months, it all makes sense. Oh, he missed big on a diagnosis. BIG. If you have HIV/AIDS, I understand he is good for that diagnosis. I can't say I'd recommend him for any other particular diagnosis, however, for a patient with HIV/AIDS or not.

My neurosurgeon recommended him out of a group of fifty doctors on a referral sheet. He said his name just jumped off the sheet. When I met Dr. Knox, I knew why. He is an extremely bright, compassoinate doctor. While he specializes in AIDS, by the grace of God, I don't have it. However, I feel very comfortable seeing him for anything as an AIDS doctor has to be very knowledgeable about every system and thing that could go wrong in the human body. They have to be bright. And he is. If I had AIDS, he would be THE doctor I'd go to see. As AIDS is not the epidemic it once was, Dr. Knox's practice is becoming more and more all around internal medicine. And he is the BEST. I cannot recommnend highly enough. His office staff is very kind and professional, too. You are in good hands with him and the nice team of doctors in the practice with him. If he's not available and it's urgent, one of them will see you or one of the two nurse practitoiners.
