Dr. Stephen Jerome Portz, MD

I was initially impressed by Dr. Portz because his office staff was able to squeeze me in at the last minute for an appointment, and by the time I arrived, he had THOROUGHLY reviewed my voluminous medical record. Most doctors don't give the impression that they know anything about me as a patient, making me waste a lot of time reciting my entire medical history. After only a few questions, Dr. Portz quickly identified my medical issue AND the causes. I left his office feeling confident that my complicated good cardiac conditions would be under care.

After dealing with other offices, it was with a great deal of pleasure that I was able to make an appointment on the first call. Other offices used a voice mail system and never even bothered to call back. I have seen Dr Portz in the past, but this will be the first time for my spouse.

Hes an intelligent, caring doc and he listens :)

I became as Dr. Portz's patient about a year ago. I have coronary artery disease--not enough for a stint or by-pass. Recommendations led me to Dr. Portz. As his patient, he prescribed 40 mg. of Crestor along with 2.5 Lisinipril and 25 mg of Hydrochlorathyzide. I am 5' and weigh 115 lbs. Six mos after starting on this regimen I developed Stage 3 kidney disease. At this point my Internist took me off of all this medication. I quote my Internist "your kidney has had a major assault" I am now on the road to recovery. Why Dr. Portz chooses to use major amounts of meds instead of titrating the dose to the patient's needs, is beyond me. According to the internet, Crestore overdose can cause kidney issues. A combo of the other two drugs can do the same and all together is absolutely a red flag. Dr Portz should have none better

I have been going to cardiologists for 46 years,since I was 7 years old. I've had the same heart problems all my life. It was not until I saw Dr. Portz that anyone listened, let alone took action to help me. Dr. Portz is extremely knowledgeable, kind and caring. He is a doctor who listens and wants to help you get well. I am forever grateful for Dr. Portz!

From the first time I met Dr. Portz, I felt I was in extremely good hands. I knew that this gental giant would put forth his best effort to keep me alive and I was right. Dr. Portz is not one to take unnecessary risks or cut corners.He goes in gets the job done and gets out. Dr. Portz would rather not stint an artery, possibly making a bypass of that artery in the future impossible. but would rather refer you for surgy knowing this would be best for you. Dr. Portz is just one fantastic Cariologist in my book.
