barely 40 min. into when he suggested that i see a marriage counselor - WHAT, i have a terminal illness and this is what he has come up with? total waste of time.

reassuring to have him as a doctor. always calls to remind me when need to come in to see him again (i see him every 4 months), follows up immediately when i contact him with a question, open to discussing anything.

He is wonderful....straightforward about you and your care...you feel he is with you as you get better. I was diagnosed as "stress induced, work related major depression" and was not at all well and was focused on death, my own. With his help, I found the med that helped me and still helps me not be in that awful place. I highly recommend him to anyone suffering from depression.

I should start with the following disclosure. I don't like psychiatrists. I don't like them at all, not one little bit. I first underwent psychiatric treatment more than 20 years ago, and up until my first session with Dr. Schneider, I had yet to meet a psychiatrist that I had any professional respect for. I certainly have met one now. Dr. Schneider is a brilliant, decent, caring man who is in his profession for all the right reasons. After 37 years of practice, he remains fully committed to his patients and to the practice of psychiatry. He agreed to take me on as a patient even though his practice was full. He came in an hour earlier than he usually does on a Monday morning so that he would have time to see me. He told me the things I needed to know about my depression in a suuccinct, understandable and illuminating way. It was clear that he is a leader in his field. He is calm and measured. In our first conversation, he described how the course of… treatment would progress in a way that made perfect sense and seemed entirely manageable. He was realistic about the challenges that lay ahead, but he explained how those challenges would be met in a way that was entirely reasonable. After a single conversation, he had me fully convinced that obstacles which had seemed unsurmountable only hours earlier were in fact nothing more than minor inconveniences. The significance of his achievement on that score is apparent when you consider that I am currently suffering from an acute, debalitating depression which has been with me on one level or another for more than 20 years. Let's just say that my name and the word "optimistic" have not been used in the same sentence since the demise of the Soviet Union. Dr. Schneider's confidence that I ill get better is both truly inspiring and oddly contageous. In large part, that is because it is obvious that he will be fully engaged with me each step of the way. Treatment with Dr. Schneider is a team effort. He'll be with you every stepof the way. He is so responsive that he typically returns telephone calls within an hour or two of receiving a message, often during his lunch hour. He has gone out of his way to help me with work related issues that are an outgrowth of my depression and critically important to me, but totally unrelated to my treatment. He took this work on without hesitation, even though he had no obligation whatsoever to get involved. In fact, before finding Dr. Schneider, I spoke with more than a dozen other psychiatrists who would not even consider treating me because they did not want to take on the added work required to address those collateral problems. For Dr. Schneider, those same problems caused him no concern at all. The man is as cool as a cucumber. Nothing rattles him. If you need a psychiatrist and there is any chance of becoming one of Dr. Schneider's patients, run to his office at full speed. It simply doesn't get any better.

I have been seeing Dr. Schneider for a number of years and would highly recommend him for anyone who needs to see a psychiatrist.
