Dr. Stephen Richard Tolhurst, MD

If I could give zero stars I would. I specifically asked if Dr. Tolhurst performed a certain procedure before I made an appointment. When I made the appointment I was assured he did perform this procedure. I am cash pay and was told the consult would be $300. The first thing he told me when he came in the room was that he did not perform the procedure. I COULD NOT QUIT CRYING! He was not comforting or supportive. I waisted an afternoon seeing Dr. Tolhurst and they tried to charge me $450 on the way out. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I was told Dr. Tolhurst performed a certain procedure and does not. I went ahead and paid $300 for nothing. I really wish I would have just walked out because Dr. Tolhurst did not provide any useful information or service.

Dr. Tolhurst, actually listend and answered questions, he is one of very few doctors that will spend time with you and answer questions. I'm 5.5 hours away from him, but dont mind the drive if this will help my back pain.

He really listened to my issues and came up with a great treatment plan. Highly recommend.

Not only is Dr Tolhurst skilled in his profession, but the amount of time he spends with you explaining the procedure is amazing. He is a truly compassionate provider with his patients best interest at heart.

Four years ago i had an accident related to severe spinal stenosis that left me essentially paralyzed from the waist down. Dr. Tolhurst gave me back my life and most of my mobility. Very compassionate, professional person and Doctor. He is what Doctor's should be. I am very grateful to him.

It is not often that you find a dr that demands immediate attention for one of his patients when his orders have not been followed, will personally assist a patient to the restroom or report errors in patient care to a hospital's patient advocate. Dr Tolhurst did all of these things for me when the hospital I was in did not follow his pain management directions. I truly gained a higher level of respect for him for all of these actions as all too often these days, many doctors leave this level of care to the nursing staff. Thank you, Dr Tolhurst for making me feel like I mattered.
