Dr. Valis was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala while his parents served with the U.S. State Department. He went on to live throughout South America and Europe and graduated high school from the American School in London. Upon his graduation he moved to the United States and attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. He then earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1990. While at Georgetown he met his future bride, Debbie, and they were married in 1991. They now have three boys. Dr. Valis remained in the D.C. area for five years following his graduation where he practiced in Maryland while Debbie worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Strom Thurmond. In 1995 Dr. Valis decided it was time to get out of the big city and move to his wife’s home state of South Carolina. The Valis family spent the next twelve years in Spartanburg. Ready for a new challenge Dr. Valis …purchased Baker Dental and moved his family to Rock Hill. The practice was renamed Waters Edge Family Dental Care to put a fresh spin on this growing, vibrant dental practice.  Dr. Valis is D.O.C.S. certified in oral sedation which provides apprehensive patients a relaxing dental experience.  Waters Edge Dental is a full service practice, and includes full cosmetic dental makeovers.  Additionally, Dr. Valis offers single visit crowns with the state-of-the-art CEREC technology.
