Dr. Stephenie C Thurber, DO

this doctor knows what she is doing! always extremely helpful and kind. she always puts in 100%, and is devoted to her work

I just obtained Dr Stephanie Thurber two months ago. the first visit was supposed to be a new patient appt. She didnt seem to know why i was there. She didnt introduce herself or reach out to shake my hand. I figure that i give a chance and not judge her on first impressions. we discussed meds and other med conditions which i needed to go to a nuerologist for. Anyway she adjusted one of my meds (increased dose) and told me to make a follow up appt. I did as she asked got a diagnosis from nuerologist. discussed how medications are working i said fine and asked to make adjustment for another med. well went to refill one of my scripts (which needed dr call cause i forgot to tell her i needed refill on it, and i got home and the dosage was decreased and only 3 days worth. Now I come to find out that she says to d/c that paticular medication after we discussed it was a good dose. so im stuck, thanks to pharmacy they gave me enough to hold over till friday! The protacol of… taking someone off the medication states should be weened off of it!! Another thing, I had appt with her and she had SSDI paperwork that she needs to fill out to send to my lawyer. She tells me "nothing is wrong with you no reason why u cant work" I told her you dont even know me and she said make another appt so I can look at your chart. I noticed someone said she was opionated and she is. I told her about my medical issues which i am recieving IV antibiotics for and she said i dont think you have "it" and you shouldnt be on it. I have not had good luck with doctors in connecticut who except medicaide as of yet. I shouldnt have to prove what is wrong with me when its in my records and i see a specialist for those issues. I have enough stress in my life, and i shouldnt have a doctor who creates more anxiety and stress!! SO FAR NOT GOOD!!! She is the worst ive had as of yet and i thought i already had the bottom of the barrel!!!

She is no longer at the listed locations , She is now working for the Manchester Community Health Services. I went in for a physical and she told me to wait for another appointment but to get blood work. She called me in early for the 1st appt and I went. Then wanted to me come back for the real physical and we had to reschedule twice more. The wanted me to have blood work again. I told her I already had it and she said she would call me with the results. This was 3 weeks ago. I told her my insurance wanted referrels for for specialist but she insisted that this was not true. Upon calling my other Dr's I found out that she was wrong. I asked for renewals of my prescriptions but she didn't do it. I ran out of my med's on the day I was supposed to see her when she rescheduled and I had to have her associate give me a 7 day supply. She rude and doesn't seem to care about her patients.Find yourself another provider , she's a waste of time.

If I could give Dr. Thurber a higher rating in many of these categories I would. She has been coordinating my pre-op efforts and has done a magnificent job of making sure I go through this procedure safely. Her bed side manner is easy and open and she genuinely makes me feel her concern to do what is best. I am especially thrilled at the manner in which she speaks to me. She communicates and does not dictate. I am a full partner in my health care. We should be lucky to have many more doctors out there like her!
