Dr. Steve Chang, MD

I was referred to Dr. Steve Chng t Barrow for stenosis of the spine. Surgery was scheduled and performed at St Joseph Hospital in Phoenix. I was pain free the day after surgery, thank you Dr. Chang. Special recognition to your staff for their assistance, especially Millie.

In my opinion, Dr. Steve Chang is a skilled surgeon! He and his staff were always professional and caring. I had spinal stenosis and a slipped disk that has caused me considerable pain for the past 5 years. I tried medications, physical therapy and pain management to no avail. He was referred to me by Dr. Reddy. He ordered several scans to find the problem. We had to communicate thru Telemed and he showed me the x-rays as to why I was in so much discomfort. My surgery was a complete success and I awoke feeling no more pain in my lower back or legs. I also can stand straight up again... I highly recommend him and his team at Barrows. Thank you, Dr. Steve Chang!

Dr Chang and his staff are professional, yet friendly and very informative of procedure. A very comforting atmosphere. I had no doubt about what was needed and am very happy with my results and the manner of which it was handled. Thank you Dr Chang and staff, for making my life better!

When someone is in acute pain, you want Dr Chang. He's an expert, BUT, patient care is NOT just about the surgery, it is very much about post surgical care. In this area, I would rate the experience a 1. My fiance had scant information about the process (including ZERO info on needing to stay overnight in the hospital), ZERO information about what post surgery would look like& feel like. RIght now my fiance has been on the phone with Chang's office trying to get info relative to the overbearing pain he has & has been transferred 3 times. No one will take the time to address his call. The first nurse he spoke with in Chang's office transferred him to the ER. Ridiculous. This is POST SURGICAL CARE people... your office should be as equally concerned about a patient right after surgery as you are before surgery. Now, after talking to 3 people, Chang's office told him they are too busy to answer his questions & they will call him back. I cannot believe how unprofessional this is.

I was a “ high risk” surgery candidate so Dr Chang did mine on two days. Now I can stand and walk and have very little pain. I can do anything in reason and have very good quality to my life. Anyone needing any surgery he performs will get an exceptional physician.

Surgery scheduler never called back after several calls to her. Dr. Chang told my wife that her condition was urgent and she needed surgery,but, could not get scheduled. Too busy of a practice and poor follow up. O do not recommend.

I am 65 years old and for most of my adult life I have had back pain but more specifically the past four years. It was getting so bad that I discontinued doing the activities that I loved to do (less shopping spree’s with my daughters, no concerts, no golf tournaments, no Sporting events). Then I found Dr. Chang. I truly have a new lease on life after he corrected my scoliosis with back to back surgeries. I can’t remember feeling this good! Thank you Dr. Chang and your staff! Roseann

I am so thankful to Dr. Chang and everyone at Barrow. I am so happy I was able to have Dr. Chang do my surgery. Every step of the way was great. The initial appoiintment at BNI at St. Joe's went great. I walked in with my paperwork already filled out, had to sign a few forms and was taken back. Dr. Chang came in and discussed my MRI results and what he thought would be the best course for me to take to alleviate my pain and my disk issue. Had my surgery a few weeks later at Chandler Regional (wonderful experience there). Dr. Chang and his team were fantastic! Today, I am almost 9 weeks post op and I am feeling great! I walked out of the hospital a few hours after surgery and it is wonderful not to be in pain anymore. I have been recommending Dr. Chang to everyone who tells me they also are experiencing the same symptoms that I was. I couldn't be happier. Thank You Dr. Chang!

I feel blessed to have had Dr Chang. I love him and his staff. So kind and thoughtful. He is a true miracle worker but really a truly skilled physician

This doctor has no time for his patient and will not seek to understand your individual case. He generalizes and assesses you without even looking at your MRI or records. He is abrupt, rude and condescending. I am certain he is completely absent of any bedside manner. There are much better doctors to help you with a ruptured disc.
