Dr. Steve Thomas Kirk, MD

Talks fast, but trying to say a lot. I initially thought it was a problem but then realized by our 3rd visit that he is really just trying to educate us as patients and thinks enough of us that we can keep up or hold on to what he is saying. And now I like it because he isn't condescending or thinks patients can't handle the information. I feel like most of my doctors underestimate my intelligence and Dr. Kirk overestimates it, and that makes me feel honored, even as an old codger veteran no one remembers. I don't like one of his front office people.

I like him. I saw another doctor in this group a few years ago who was a real jerk and gave me the runaround. Dr. Kirk was clear, came up with a plan that worked. He talks fast but I think it is because he really wanted me to understand my problem better. I still don't fully, but I like that he tried.

I'm a student at UNC, and this doctor is the only doctor who actually listened to me. You can tell he is mentally quick and knows a lot of medicine. I'm going to get him to see my mom when she comes in to visit.

Wow. This one really cares about us patients. The phone system is a little bureaucratic and their online chart system needs work but he really cares. It's obvious in the way he talked to us and his mannerisms.

I saw Doctor Kirk for an odd facial pain. He has been treating it successfully and I see him only once a year. Last year he typed up my medication list for me. When my husband passed away last year, Doctor Kirk was the only doctor of mine to write me a hand written, very sincere letter. I am older and see many doctors, and the one that sees me for the least of my problems sent me the only card. He is a kind white man.

He very clearly explains testing and diagnosic conclusions

Dr. Kirk be very friendly. Look me in the eye entire clinic. Patient with my very bad English. Treats me for myositis and I walk much better.

Man! I hate their phone system! You wait forever. They have an online portal but even that doesn't work great... BUT if you get through the wait to his nurse Valerie, she will touch base with him and he will come up with a good plan or work you in to discuss it if the concern is a new or long one. Anyway, he'll take as long as he needs to with you and I never feel rushed. He's good.

I see Dr. Kirk in the Durham office, and I think this office is smaller than the Raleigh office and I like it. The front office staff is very nice and they have worked me in before. Dr. Kirk treats me for cluster headaches and is very good at explaining things to me. If you've spent any time with subspecialists, and especially any neurologists, you realize that Dr. Kirk is top notch. I feel lucky to be unerd his care. He listens, and my headaches have never been better controlled.

All my doctors hate to see me coming because I do my research and don't let any B.S. slide. Dr. Kirk let me bring on all my internet knowledge and gave me as hard a time as I gave him. He answered all my questions patiently. He let me challend him and wasn't afraid to challenge me too. Good doc!
