Dr. Steven B Baratz, DDS

When my long time dentist retired, he sold his practice to Dr. Baratz. For 20 years, my mouth had been fine. Curiously, as soon as I started seeing Dr. Baratz, there were a multitude of issues that needed to be corrected. Halfway in to the string of (expensive) procedures he said were critical, I grew fed up with his attitude, the surprisingly poor state of my teeth (in his opinion), and the frenetic pace of his practice ... he generally had 4+ patients in chairs at any given time and was dashing between patients. Two “we need to patch up this tooth” pitches turned into expensive root canals with outside endodontists after being told by Dr. Baratz “yeah, that sometimes happens”. I finally decided to leave the practice, and was greeted by MAJOR resistance to obtaining my records. My husband finally showed up at the office and demanded the records or he was going to create a scene. I subsequently visited another local dentist who is highly regarded, who looked at my mouth, and the… other teeth that “required significant procedures”, and was reassured that the teeth were very stable, did not need any imminent work, and were fine to leave on a “watch list”. Three years later, those teeth are still fine and on the watch list. I am very happy to be out of the office of someone who (in my experience and opinion) was far more concerned with billing procedures vs looking at the patient and how best to serve them.
