Dr. Steven Arthur Day, MD

I do not give out praise unless earned, and I have to say that Dr. Day earned my praise. He listened to me very patiently, and allowed me to speak freely without judgement. I was afraid of the EMG/NCS because I had them years ago, and at that time, I walked out halfway thru due to pain. Dr. Day was very patient and did not hurt me while performing the tests. It was very tolerable. And he let me chatter (alot) throughout the test (which is my reaction to stress.) I like him. He also performed a nerve biopsy, which was very tolerable. I would feel comfortable having him perform any test on me. I feel he is very logical and straightforward with his approach to patient care.

I am a Myasthenia Gravis (MG) patient, who has recently moved from Italy. I had a problem with the neurologist at St. Vincentâ??s Hospital, Steven Day, who is the only Providence Health Plan doctor who specializes in MG and other related auto-immune diseases. Dr. Day got upset when I had hesitation on taking an EMG, which he required because I did not test positive with the antibodies test (the regular one, not the MUSK.) I tried to talk to the doctor to explain that I have taken the EMG 3 times in Italy and they had to stop it each time because of high pain. The EMG is a test where electrical impulses are shot into oneâ??s muscles. Also I cannot have acupuncture according to the top acupuncturist in the top hospital in Shanghai. I just want to talk to him about alternatives or at least assurance he would stop if it was too painful. He refused talk to me directly either in person or on the telephone, but had an assistant who said take the EMG or the doctor would fire me as a… patient. Once again the assistant would not let me talk to Day, and called back to say I was fired and Dr. Day would not even prescribe Mestinon in the future. The funny thing is, I think we could have straightened everything out, if I could have talked to him rather than his messenger, who was a bully. He said I had either do it his way or I would not be Dayâ??s patient. We are insured with Providence Health Care and we are having problems finding a covered doctor with MG experience, after being fired. Now we have to find a doctor outside of the Providence system; because apparently, if Dr. Day fires you none of the other neurologists in his group will treat you, plus Day seems the only one in the system, who specializes in MG, In my opinion Dr Steven Day acts like he is royalty and is in breach of rules of civil comportment as well as giving a minimum of voice to the concerns of the patient. Doctors should not act as if kings, but should grant a reasonable voice to the patient in determining his treatment.

Dr. Day needs to be called out for not listening, being disrespectful and rude. After having migraines for 22 years, he thought that my prevention efforts that went beyond taking medication (i.e., closing windows so that fire pit smoke smell wouldn't infiltrate my home, not facing windows/bright light, staying out of the sun/heat, etc.. ) were severe , and he recommended an anti-depressant for anxiety. In addition, he thought that the frequency of my migraines didn't justify a neurologists attention, and that I should accept them and get my prescriptions refilled by my primary care physician. Remember, I've been seeing a neurologist for 22 years, and no other neurologist has ever said anything like this. In fact, other neurologist have been interested in getting me pain free and to zero migraines. I'l never recommend Dr. Day to anyone for anything

Dr.Day is not a good doctor ,he needs to be called out on being disrespectful and not giving a good or right dignoses!

PAs/nurses are excellent; other staff is mostly OK.
