Dr. Steven Bingmun Kao, MD

Dr. Kao was my primary care physician before he retired. Shortly after he left, as I was aligning myself with the new primary care dr. that replaced him, I asked about getting a PSA test. My PSA number came back very high. I have found out I have intermediate prostate cancer. I am so disappointed that Dr. Kao never once suggested that I get a PSA test. I was his patient for about eight years from the time I was 57. Had he recommended to me that I get a PSA test even three years ago, my prostate cancer would not be so far along now. I now need surgery to remove the prostate. We do not know yet how far this has spread. I could die from this, all because my primary care dr. never once advised me to get a PSA test. This is unacceptable. Do not go to this doctor or you could end up with a serious condition that could have been prevented!

Dr. Kao has great bed side manners. He was always very polite, patient, and compassionate. I found him to be knowledgeable and conservative in his treatment. He takes the time to solve your problem and not just send you home with a bumch of meds. I liked that he was confident when he made a diagnosis, and I also liked it when he didn't hesitate to reach out to another physician if he wanted a second opinion. Not many doctors are open minded like that. Sadly, I must find another primary care physician. Kaiser Permanente saw fit to arbitrarily change my primary care physician for me for some unknown reason; perhaps Dr. Kao had too many patients and I drew the short straw. Five stars for Dr. Kao; 1 star for Kaiser Permanente.
