If you want a caring and competent doctor, he is not for you. Terrible bedside manner and total lack of caring to the point he won’t even ask a patient about their symptoms, even though they’ve been admitted to the hospital by other doctors in the ER, he still will not take you seriously.

My personal opinion is I would never recommend Dr mccarus. Was referred to him by my gyn who said he was best in area. He proved her wrong! He performed 2 procedures on me. I went back 2 months later, complaining of similar symptoms, and asked him to order further testing to discover what was wrong. He said there was no more testing he could do. I had a CT scan, vaginal ultrasound, d&c and hysteroscopy. He said he felt it was my "fat belly" that was cause of discomfort and I should go back to my primary physician. I did. He ordered further tests, sent me to a great gyn physician who ordered another ultrasound and performed same 2 procedures as Dr mccarus. He found a malignancy. I am now trying to recover from a total hysterectomy Dr mccarus either failed to discover cancer during his surgery or failed to discover it because he refused to listen to my concerns and would not order further tests but told me to.go back to my primary. I think his arrogance and ego are unbelieveable. He… showed no concern for my health and well being. I think he let his ego get in the way of following his oath to do no harm. Based on the lack of treatment and inferior treatment I feel I received from this individual I could never recommend him to anyone. If it were possible I would give him 0 star!!

Dr. Mccarus is the best! He is a great listener, this was my second time getting my fibroids removed, he did it , I healed fast, his entire staff was patient with me, especially Diane. This man is amazing, he is a great listener, he tells you what you need. I love the fact that he is compassionate and he that he sympathize with you, throughout my surgery he has been a blessing.

I am a patient of Steven Mccaurs. As a surgeon he is quiet knowledgeable and caught my endodemetrious early thankfully leaving to very little damage. Other doctors pushed my concerns aside but not him. He got me into surgery very quick. The issue is with the staff who continued to not send out my prescriptions at all or to a completely different town 30 minutes away. The staff did out in my medication the day becore lile he asked. He even called them the day of my surgery right in front of me but the staff bever Sen it. I called all the types of pharmacies remoty close to me and none had anything on file for their stores period. My pain got out of control because the staff didbt send in the medication and my surgery lasted until after closing hours. I had to go without pain meds! This is not the first time they screwed up with sending my meds either.

This dr is an excellent surgeon but i lost trust after he insisted twice that i should have a hysterectomy because i dont need my uterus, i have no cancer or any reason to remove my organ, i went there to rule out pid not to have my organ removed i think money is more important than the patients health, i wont go back anymore.

I was very hurt by what I was told. To be said breifly, after asking about me and my fiance's careers the apt went from we need to figure something out to your just going to have to suck it up and get a job. Saying i'm ruining my life as well as my loved ones. I am permantely disabled, my fiance is retired army vet of 10yrs. I have a rare condition causing constant pain, and to have a medical professional insult me and tell me to suck up my disability or ill ruin my life and the life of my loved ones if I don't stop my pain meds and get a job. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Doctors want to pretend Adhesion disease doesn't exist. It does, I'm not the only one suffering from this awful illness that medical professionals refuse to awknowldege. I would never want to go here again and be told to just suck up my disability. I've suffered from for over a year now.

2nd opinion, and I am so very grateful for seeing him. Old school gentlemen, takes his time, pleasant and professional yet shows empathy for his patients.

I had severe endometriosis in 2014. Dr. McCarus was going to remove the invasive tissue and preserve my organs. It was never presented to me that I may possibly need a hysterectomy. He was confident this procedure would be done with ease. However, he was unsuccessful and said I was too much of a "mess" inside. The doctor sent me home (an hour and a half away) the same day. The next day I was in extreme pain and wound up in the local emergency room. New doctors kept me in the hospital for one week because of kidney hydronephrosis and a severe kidney infection, as a result of surgery. Dr. McCarus didn't follow-up with me throughout the week to ensure everything would be okay. Three months after a long healing process, I wound up having a complete hysterectomy anyways. I have to come to terms with the devastating fact that I will never have children. I put my trust in Dr. McCarus' hands and was highly disappointed.
