Dr. Steve Christopher Nelson, MD

When i first started seeing Dr. Nelson, i really liked him, i thought he had a good bedside manner and was always kind and upbeat. I sadly realized that there are two sides of Dr. Nelson and if you accidentally get on his bad side, you will always be on his bad side. I have experienced bullying, accusing me of wrapping my arm up on purpose to stop the blood-flow, making it turn purple, and when he started use a sharp edge roller on my arm the color did slightly return, he was standing over me, being accusatory and trying to twist everything i was explaining regarding my rotator cuff, as the color did return, he sat down to type the information into his laptop while he was typing my arm began to turn purple, the tingling was back and my hand was bright purple and cold, i asked him to look at my arm so he could see that i had know way of wrapping it up in the waiting room. I had my husband in the room with me and he had a student doctor who was also in the room. When she realized he was… deliberately ignoring me and wasn’t going to look at my arm, her eyes looked at me and she shook her head, the look in her eyes also looked like she had never seen this side of him, a doctor who is supposed to and required to treat everyone, be professional, and not bully, accuse patients of something so outrageous and ignoring them when they are trying to let them know that their arm and hand is turning purple again and they won’t acknowledge them at all. He lied about our visit in the notes he wrote. I have access to all my office visits and the notes they type. I have asked repeatedly for those notes to be updated, i have left numerous messages for the office manager and i ended up having rotator cuff surgery from a orthopedic specialist in the North Kansas City area. I made sure all of my information regarding the mri, and the surgery were faxed over to Dr. Nelson’s office and he still hasn’t changed the lies regarding our visit!! I would not recommend him as a family doctor. We are all human (even doctors) we all make mistakes, he will hold it against you, and bully you during a office visit, he will try to access and twist your words (basically he’s not there to help you as a doctor should do, he comes in with a overbearing attitude towards you, unwilling to listen and understand, his mind is already made up that he enjoys using his authority and power as a doctor to unleash his rage he has inside of himself, why would he allow you to take up an appointment from someone else, when he knows that he has no intention for treating you, his only agenda is to bully you, yell at you, twist everything you’re saying and intimidate you and write in chart that you were accusatory right when he entered the room? The color came back in your arm? And so much more false information regarding you as a person. It could have a major impact on your life and trying to find a new doctor since no one in the office seems to care about doing the right thing!

My entire family has went to Nelson . I have been going to him for 20years and in the last 10 years it has went down hill . He has lost his compassion for his patients and if you need medications don’t ask not even for a Baby Aspirin because you won’t get it!!!!

We have gone to Dr. Nelson for 21 years. My kids are grown now, but we all would never think of going to anyone else. He is genuinely caring, most knowledgeable and always has taken us on the best path and you will never find a doctor that follows up like he does. He goes above and beyond. His staff is excellent also.

I have enjoyed seeing Laurie who is a nurse practitioner there. They wanted me to see dr Nelson since he signs my prescription. Showed up, he came in, he was questioning my Amitriptyline. I take it PRN for my migraines I have done so for last five years my last doctor at the Mayo Clinic had recommended this it has always worked great for me. Dr. Nelson told me that that is not how it’s supposed to be and the medicine doesn’t work that way I told him it has always been working for me he said it must be a placebo for you. He’s also been signing for my Xanax with no issues all of a sudden today he told me I should seek counseling because my divorce is not the reason for my anxiety. He told me I should get some prayer in my life! I told him We were done with this conversation and I left to never go back

Very personable and extremely knowledgeable!

My first visit with him, he identified a serious medical condition which placed me immediately in the hospital. He visited me every day, twice a day on some days.

Awesome physician, very caring and concerned! Definitely recommend him to everyone!
