Dr. S Scott Standa, MD

I had been dealing with pain and swelling in my foot from what we had thought was all being caused by an extra bone in my foot. After months of trying different things to bring down the swelling he did surgery to remove the bone. After my surgery he wasn’t very helpful at all. He didn’t have me do any physical therapy or anything and basically just made me feel like I was crazy and the pain I was having was all in my head. Months after my surgery I kept asking if the pain I was still having was normal after surgery and he would brush me off constantly. I think he assumed right away that I was trying to get pain pills when all I wanted to know was if what I was feeling was normal. The last appointment I went in for I asked him again about all the pain I was experiencing and he then told me that all surgery patients suffer from a form of PTSD and my foot is fine and now my mind just needs to believe it. I left crying. He made me feel crazy. Went to a new doc who did an MRI and it… confirmed my tendons are severely swollen and I’m starting Physical therapy now. I only wish I had went with my current doctor first. I’ll never go back to Standa or ever recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Standa misdiagnosed, and proceeded to wrongly treat, what he determined was an ingrown toenail. He came to this conclusion following a very brief examination of not more than a minute. After cutting away the toe nail, he swathed the toe in a bandage at least 2 inches wide so it was quite painful to wear my shoes home. After several weeks, the toe pain, soreness and redness were still present, exactly as they were on my earlier visit. He had the good grace to acknowledge, indirectly, that he had harmed, not helped me. I would not recommend him.
