Dr. Steven Arthur Vernino, MD

Dr. Vernino dedicates his life to improving the lives of his patients. There have been times when he worked me in although he had no time slots available. I know it was at great cost to what little time he has to spare. Do not think that the time you spend in his office is all that he gives on your behalf, there is a lot is going on behind the scenes. I always feel heard and respected and he tries so hard to find solutions. I truly appreciate all he has done.

Dr. Vernino is an amazing doctor. His communication skills are top-notch. I love that he engages me as a patient and talks TO me and not AT me. I am so blessed to have been referred to Dr. Vernino!

Just had our first appointment with Dr Vernino. The care and evaluation exemplified the highest standard of excellence. He was professional, clear and kind in his communication. Dr. Vernino and staff—Top Notch! Highly Recommend.

I have been extremely sick for over 7 months from the vaccine shot completely messing up my nervous system. I have had 3 referrals to him from doctors who actually care. I have a 24/7 panic attack, mass digestive issues, lost 70 pounds because I can't eat, my skin tingles until I pass out, I end up laying on the floor because I cannot move. That is just the start of my symptoms. His customer service sucks. From the point of my first referral to him it took months of me calling to even get an answer. His assistants at the office were great and tried to help, but he doesn't care at all about people. If you value your life do not ever go him. I have never been so disgusted by a doctor and his lack of morals in my life. Stay away. Do not go to this man ever!!!

The review I give won't matter, as Dr. Vernino is an expert with tenure and world recognized. That's good and fine, but his bedside demeanor is the worst of the worst. Yeah, sometimes giving patients these type of life-changing diagnoses is difficult, I get it. However, you can have humanity, which this guy has never heard of. I asked a question, and for that I was dropped as a patient. simple as that. Simply asked a question regarding his notes and was dropped. Also be aware all the other neurologist's are scared to question him either. Being a neurologist is a dirty job. I wouldn't want it. This guy has no empathy.

Cold. Rude. Just dismissed my symptoms and suffering

Dr. Vernino spent almost an hour going over my history and performing a physical exam so that he could clearly understand my symptoms. I was referred for autonomic testing, but even after all the tests came back normal he didn't stop there. I appreciate his time and personal attention in the way he sought to understand my problems. I believe he accurately assessed my condition and I appreciate the recommendations he sent back to my doctor for treatment and follow up. I waited months to get in to see him, but it was well worth it. I do believe that someone is repeatedly giving a one star review in order to lower his ratings. While this person was obviously dissatisfied, do not let that unduly influence your decision. Dr. Vernino really is the best in the field, and his patient and caring demeanor is a bonus!

I have been working with Dr Vernino for over year. I was diagnosed with cancer and had developed some neurological symptoms and referred to Dr Vernino. Initially after an exam and some tests he diagnosed me with peripheral neuropathy along with autonomic dysfunction. Although I was hesitant with this final diagnosis he appeared certain this was the case and not open to any other possibilities. After a few months had passed my symptoms progressively became worse. My oncologist instructed me to again reach out to Dr Vernino for a follow up. I was able to get an appointment with a PA who was very dismissive of my symptoms. After leaving that appointment disappointed, a short time my symptoms worsened where I began having problems breathing, swallowing and walking. I again requested along with my oncologist (who was far more proactive) another appointment along with specific tests. I again was seen by a PA who seemed very overwhelmed by my case. They eventually got me in for an… EMG and muscle biopsy. They both showed some changes which obviously was a scary feeling for me. But Dr Vernino never followed up with me. I ended up giving up here and going to the Mayo in Rochester which was far more superior then what I had experienced with the neurology team here at UT Southwestern. I spent a few weeks there and because there were additional tests to be performed they agreed to allow me to come back here as long as it was under the supervision of Dr Vernino. He initially agreed however again never followed up, even after reaching out multiple times. I’ve continued to work with my oncologist which has amazing, BTW. Dr Vernino, however who may have at sometime been a great Dr and who had at once, the patients best interest at heart is no longer that kind of dr. My own personal experience with the whole neurology team has been nothing short of disappointing, it’s sad considering his renowned reputation.
