Dr. Steven Wexner, MD

I just last week had colorectal surgery performed by Dr. Wexner, and I feel like I received excellent care. He came very highly recommended and completely lived up to my expectations. Yes, he is "all business," but he is excellent at what he does and I'm sure literally every minute of his day is booked. I felt like he treated me very professionally, checked on me promptly every morning of my hospital stay, and he did explain to me that the residents did perform certain tasks, if you will. He did ask me each day if I had any questions and gave me that opportunity. My surgery went 100% as expected, and I have no complaints whatsoever. I am very thankful for the treatment I received and am feeling great.

The best Dr in his field! I had a great experience with him and crew. My surgery was a success even tough I had other surgeries with other doctors. He changed my life.

Relies on his residents to look at your history. In my case had a number of things wrong, important things like test results. I heard him ask the resident to summarize my history (in the hall on the other side of the door) so clearly he read nothing. Prior to my visit I heard him dress down someone in the hall in a very rude, aggressive, arrogant way. His manor with me was toned down from that but he probably said less than 25 words to me total after introducing himself. He spent the rest of the time talking to his entourage of students/residents (was never introduced to any of them). He then left almost immediately after doing a rectal exam, not warning me what he was going to do before he did it. He talked to his entourage rather than me as he did a quick exam. He then said I had two choices - surgery but he wouldn't recommend that or something else. He said less than 25 words to me. I said certainly the 'something else' sounded like a better starting place. He then opened the… door and as he was walking out he said he'd refer me. He then walked out before I could even ask him anything. I started to say I have some questions but he kept walking and one of his entourage shut the door. A resident came back to answer my questions after I told the nurse that I had questions for the doctor. I didn't pay to more or less just see a resident. The post visit notes had no diagnosis, was clearly written by a resident who had poor written English skills. The resident gave me a verbal diagnosis and when I looked it up later I saw I had no symptoms that matched that. Due to the fact that the resident said a major test was normal, when in fact it was not (which was why I was seeing him to begin with) I doubt any diagnosis is correct and certainly what he suggested I do as treatment I will not do because I have no confidence that he is treating what is wrong with me. I wasted my money. He may be competent (his reputation is that he is very good) but his ability to do his job is limited by his over reliance on residents who many or may not summarize your medical history for him correctly (in my case didn't). He certainly has no interest in spending time with the patient. I will now need to see someone else and pay, again, for what I paid him to do since he made his judgement based on incorrect information.

These negative reviews are funny and sad. My husband is from a family of world renowned doctors. So with that being said Dr. Wexner is one of the best colorectal surgeons in the world, he’s not going to be your friend, he’s not going to make small talk he is going to fix you, AND that should be your most important quality. I suffered a severe birth injury in Orlando from an idiot OBGYN. Since that date until seeing Dr. Wexner I have been through 25 surgeries in 3 years, still couldnt have sex with my husband, and had fecal accidents simply putting my daughter in her car seat. My colorectal surgeon threw hands up and simply gave up. I was referred to Wexner and drove three hours to see him. He fixed me in 3 major surgeries that the Orlando moron could not do in 20 and 5 years. He found that I had a gaping hole in my colon, that was leaking into my system making feel ill for 3 years. Since the surgery everything works, no accidents, I feel great and most importantly I GOT MY LIFE AND… MARRIAGE BACK.

Dr. Wexner is a great, well known doctor. I traveled almost two thousand miles, four times this year to see Dr. Wexner. My colon-rectal surgeon couldn't help me, and recommended Dr. Wexner. I did some research on the internet on him, so I was prepared to his bedside manners and how he travels with residents doctors. These resident doctors are there to learn, and as one of them said, "It was a great privilege for him to learn from Dr. Wexner." So, I felt I was in good hands. I would not trade Dr. Wexner for any other doctor in the world. He's there for you, but he lets his students take part of your visits to him. I was not uncomfortable with this. All respect was given to me on my exams and surgeries. When you're ill, you want the best doctor to treat you and Dr. Wexner was the one for me. You want a doctor that knows what he's doing and has years doing it. Knowledge is power and Dr. Wexner is proof of that.

Saw this surgeon for colon cancer. Didn't give us the oncology results for over a month. Post surgery required a lengthy stay at the hospital. Wexner was too busy traveling to do rounds on 6 out 7 days a week. His residence gave no answers. After leaving the hospital, we were unable to see him directly or have him take or return our calls. Always a resident. Our last reply by a resident was received by TEXT. What kind of doctor sends treatment plans in a text message? Don't come to this Cleveland Clinic. Maybe the original is still great but Weston's hospital and Dr. Wexner are horrid. Save yourself the post op stress and find a doctor that cares more about helping patients in all stages of their health needs not one that only cares about being world renown. A legend in his own mind but an arrogant little man in mine.

Hello, I would like to say that Dr. Wexner is a great Doctor. Very interested about everything I had to say, he went into details what my options were. Absolutely talented and detailed. I think that with Dr. Wexner I will be okay.
