Dr. Steven Dwayne Wise, MD

He told me he used Nuvigil/Provigil. He made terrible mistakes. He’s the worst doctor I ever went to.

I am currently his patient. I am very particular about doctors with good bedside manners. He has that plus an incredible communication skill. I have never had a doctor who emails me back with answers at 5AM or over the weekends. He has always answered the messages himself. You would be in really good hands if you choose him. He is however getting very popular in Houston and it takes like 3 months to see him as a new patient. I would still wait for the best endo up north.

Dr Wise was my favorite Dr and I’m sorry he left Dothan. I do understand and wish him the best. I found him to be very thorough, caring, supportive but mainly very easy to talk to. He helped me get my diabetes and thyroid issues under control. Thanks Dr Wise. You are the best!!!

Dr Wise may be ok didn't see him but for a couple of minutes. His PA and the nurse need some help they are uninformed and rude" knowitalls". PA made changes to Omnipod pump and laughed as she pushed buttons and said" she wasn't sure what she was doing..." Find another Dr I did!!!!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Wise by my PCP last year to deal with my on-going hypothyroidism. Dr. Wise was able to put me on the right combination of medicine to bring my levels within normal range and help me finally feel better! As long as he's practicing medicine in SE Alabama, I'll be a patient!

Dr. Wise was a good Dr. for years his most recent nurse however is NOT . She threatened me with losing my license I guess because of my blood sugars. When I did not do exactly as I was supposed to do, I was dismissed from the practice but that was not the bad part . His nurse also called my pharmacy and canceled my medication immediately which was insulin, blood pressure med, and cholesterol med. Thank goodness I have a good family Dr. who wrote my prescriptions for me, even the insulin for my insulin pump. Because as anyone knows when you are a new patient it takes at least 3 months to get an appointment. I was told by my pharmacist I should file a complaint with the medical board. I think the Hippocratic oath says that a Dr. shall do no harm, when you take away a patients medication that is solely for keeping them alive you have broken that oath weather or not your nurse does it or you do it. I am very sad the Dr. Wise is so influenced by or allows his nurse to have… such power it is unfortunate . I should be thankful because I now have a Dr. and staff who does not threaten , who treats me with respect.

Dr. Wise is a great doctor very smart. Once you get to know him he is a doctor you will use for a lifetime.

If you are looking for a long term doctor, think again. When trying to make an appointment for my husband, I was told it would be our last chance to have an appointment with this doctor. After missing two previous appointments not even in the same year, I was told that his office didn't work that way. You have three chances of "no show" appointments and then he refuses to see you again. His nurse explained that I could go ahead and schedule but if he was a "no show" one more time that we would be charged $35.00 and they would not see him again. I told her I just couldn't believe how we were being treated! Last time I checked, the patients pay the doctor not the other way around!! Obviously, he does not care about his patients just that they "abide by his rules". I told the nurse not to bother scheduling anything that we would find another doctor.

I had a problem controlling my levels and instead of seeing the doctor i saw the C.R.N.P nurse and all they did was raise my insulin intake level and it still not helping. I need help.

Poorly trained and rude staff coupled with the doctor's failure to respond to multiple inquiries make for a terrible experience. I would suggest you continue your search if you suspect you are troubled with something more serious than a common cold.
