Dr. Steven Raymond Yale, MD

My experience with this physician was far less than I hoped for. I am a person who avoided mental health professionals for many years. I didn’t think they could offer me anything. However, due to unfortunate life events, I finally relented and sought advice and help. Before doing this, I looked for reviews on line and tried to pick the person who would be the best fit for me. I also researched to make sure the Doctor was on my insurance plan. I called Dr. Yale’s office and was assured they accepted my insurance. When I arrived, Dr. Yale’s office manager informed me she had not been able to reach my insurance company. I had the impression that she had not even tried. I was told to pay in advance for my office visit and if my insurance covered it, the amount would be credited to my account. Upon meeting Dr. Yale for the initial visit, he asked some basic questions about myself and my situation. He then proceeded to ramble on about diet supplements and vitamins that I should be taking. He… also recommended two books that I should read and asked me to set up a follow up appointment. The second appointment was virtually a repeat of the first. He recommended the same diet supplements and vitamins. The only difference between this appointment and the first is that he did more of the talking in the second appointment than the first and asked me nothing about myself or my situation. At the end of the visit, I went to the office manager and expected to be told that my insurance covered the visit. My company offers an EAP ( Employee Assistance Program) for mental health visits. Instead, I was told “Dr. Yale does not accept EAP,” Had I known this, I would have sought another Doctor who does take my insurance. Had I known the only help I would get would be the recommendation of a couple of books and a diet supplement, I would have been better off going to my local Starbucks or library and picking something up off the table. The only thing I got from Dr.Yale was a bill for more than $300. He didn’t help me in any way.

I have been a patient of Dr. Yale's for years. He is the best! He cares about what you have to say and he listens. It's not just in and out with a prescription. He truly is a great Psychiatrist and person. You will love him as much as I do. I unfortunately just move out of the area and cannot see him anymore but if I move back to Tampa, he's my guy!

He is amazing. He spends time with you and really listens.

Great doctor, spends time with his patients and seems to genuinely care about the well being of his patients.
