Suji V. Mathew, MD, MS, FIDSA

As chief of medicine and an infectious disease specialist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta, Suji V. Mathew, M.D., M.S., F.I.D.S.A., works with patients and their cancer care teams to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses of infections, as well as safe and effective treatment following the latest guidelines for antibiotic stewardship.Dr. Mathew’s goal is to help patients receive effective treatment when experiencing infections related to their disease or its treatments using rapid pathogen testing. She has extensive experience leading infection prevention and control programs at hospitals around the country. Proud that City of Hope Atlanta has been recognized with “Gold Status” by the Georgia Honor Roll for antibiotic stewardship programs, she also works with patients’ multidisciplinary cancer care teams to manage infectious disease risk and monitor patients during the treatment process.After earning her medical degree at Topiwala National Medical College in Mumbai, India, Dr. …Mathew completed a master’s degree in pharmacology at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, followed by an internal medicine residency at Hurley Medical Center/Michigan State University in Flint, Michigan. Her fellowship in infectious diseases was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She is a member of the International Antiviral Society, Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
