I was referred to Dr. Lalani for sciatic pain in left leg and numbness in right leg by an orthopedic surgeon with the Methodist Hospital. Dr. Lalani recommended a series of three cortisone injections as treatment. These were administered in my spine so this was done as an outpatient surgery once a week until completed. After the second injection, my spine had horrible pain at the site of injection. After several weeks he finally said that he must have ripped the tendon at the injection site. No offer of apology or any type of recommendation on how to recover. His bedside manner is brief and without concern. He told me that these issues with my sciatic nerve was due to wearing too tight jeans. I barely wear jeans so this determination was laughable. Also, he told me to quit dancing which is my main source of exercise and has been a large part of my life for many decades as a teacher. He had no concern on what this type of declaration would do for a patient's life quality. The result:… the pain at the injection eventually healed; my left leg sciatic pain was relieved about 70% though I now have about 50% less control of my muscles in my left hip; my right thigh numbness was not altered at all; I continue years later with pain. I do not recommend this doctor. I do not recommend getting cortisone injections as they cost a fortune and don't alleviate pain completely.
