Dr. Sumeet Sorel Teotia, MD

Dr. Teotia is simply amazing! I unfortunately have a genetic mutation that increases my chance of several cancers, with breast cancer having the highest percentage. I am extremely thankful I had the choice in moving forward with a preventative double mastectomy last year (2022). I also find myself feeling incredibly lucky that I was able to choose Dr. Teotia as my plastic surgeon for my breast reconstruction and subsequent phases. I knew going into this process that I wanted to use my own tissue for my reconstruction and was well aware that it would require a few phases to complete. The option for a LAP flap (Lumbar Artery Perforator – using tissue from lower back) was presented to me due to not having enough tissue for the most common option, the DIEP flap (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator – using tissue from lower abdomen). LAP flaps are very complex and not all microsurgeons can perform them. I am so thankful to have someone as knowledgeable and experienced as Dr. Teotia and his… team to be able to do this for me. My results are absolutely incredible! Dr. Teotia is talented beyond words and I can’t help but tear up (happy!) any time someone asks about my experience with him. He is a true perfectionist with an artistic eye – someone you definitely want on your team. He has always made sure I understood the options presented to me and what to expect, never once having me feel insecure or unsure of my decisions moving forward. He, as well as his nurses and staff, have always been extremely caring, courteous, and professional. Dr. Teotia has brought my self-confidence to a whole new level and I will forever be grateful to him for everything he’s done for me. Thank you!

I've had two surgeries with Dr. Teotia. The first to remove and replace ruptured implants. The second to remove those implants and replace with my own tissue in a rare and complex flap procedure using my 'love handles.' Working with Dr. Haddock, Dr. Teotia was able to do both breasts in a single operation. Recovery is slow and steady. All that's left, once I'm fully healed, is the fine tuning. I am already beyond happy with the results! Dr. Teotia is a true artist whose medium happens to be the human body, specifically women's breasts. He's a kind man with a good sense of humor. I find him responsive to my concerns, compassionate, and very professional. I highly recommend him to any woman, but especially to those in need of breast reconstruction.

Dr. Teotia was very kind, informative, and extremely supportive in my surgery experience. He has the best bedside manner I have ever experienced. My surgery of breast reduction after removing the cancer was highly successful. I am so happy with the surgery. I’ve had to contact him for a few questions about my recovery and received prompt answers. He is truly a master in creating beautiful results, he made a bad time in my life so much better and gave me the confidence I needed at this time in my life. He is truly the best!

Arrogant and uncaring.

While he did great with the initial breast cancer surgery and placement of expanders, his charm quickly wore off afterward. Very dismissive, gave me little chance to express what was important to me. The final implant placement was awful and he was reluctant to address the obvious problems and repeatedly blamed my anatomy for the issues. I had to move on to a new surgeon who revised my reconstruction without complaint about my anatomy and any possible difficulty it might cause.

This is the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a plastic surgeon. I went in for a consultation for a breast augmentation and the entire time Dr. Teotia made me feel like I was wasting his time. I paid to have my consultation, I was on time, I've done my research, I've met with other doctors and not one has acted the way that he has. He seemed irritated that I had my own opinions about what I wanted and what I felt worked better for me out of the options he gave me! Overall I felt like he didn't want to do my surgrery, he had an "I don't care" attitude, and made me very uncomfortable. I'm extremely disappointed that after reading great reviews, and hearing good things, that I spent my time and money on someone who could have cared less. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone!

I had a lumpectomy in 2008 and was recently considering reconstruction options. I decided to go see Dr. Teotia because of all of the good reviews I've read about him. The reviews, as good as they are, still do not do justice to this doctor. I met with him and after spending a good hour with me discussing the options available to me, the risks involved, etc., he advised me that the risk would be too great to proceed with any surgery and recommended that I do nothing at this time. I was a little disappointed at first by his recommendation but admire his honesty and integrity. I am taking his advice and am not proceeding with any surgery at this time but if I decide to do so in the future, Dr. Teotia will be my first choice. Oh, he is also so nice and his nurse Theresa is really outstanding too.
