Dr. Sumi Lorrane King, MD

At every appointment she reminded me I wasn’t as young as I used to be and not to be surprised if I didn’t “bounce back” like I did with my other children. She tried to intimidate me into getting the flu vaccine while pregnant, telling me “lots of women have gotten the flu while pregnant and end up on ventilators.” I was berated for being anemic while I was in labor. And she used a vacuum on my baby which was never even anything we had ever discussed and had it been brought up as a possibility, I would have definitely switched providers.

I have a demanding job, and it's difficult to take time off for my own appointments. I had an appointment with Dr. King for a year. Just before the appointment, and told me they could only take me three months later. The clerk was sarcastic when I asked if I could possibly get in earlier. I don't need this.

So I was about to die because my cyst was close to rupturing on my ovary and she took me back for surgery as fast as she could and she did amazing. I lost an ovary but oh well. I still have 1 more. But she did everything great. My healing process wasn’t too bad but it did heal nicely where she cut it. She’s so understanding though. Like she waited for my dad to leave before asking me more personal questions a normal gynecologist would ask for records. She is definitely the best and I’ll keep going back to her. 100000% recommend her.

MY DR SUMI KING ALWAYS TAKES HER TIME WITH ME AND EXPLAIN. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO HER FOR 25 YRS PLUS, I DRIVE IN FROM HOUSTON EACH YEAR AND WOULD NOT TRADE THE PROFESSIONAL AND AWESOME STAFF FOR ANYONE! WAY TO TREAT YOUR CLIENTS DR. KING - JUST LIKE YOUR FAMILY

I was prescribed a medicine over the holidays. I had an adverse side affect and since I was pregnant and concerned I called the on call service. Dr King was on call and answered the call. She was rude and dismissive and passed it off as me being dehydrated. This is no way to treat a patient who is calling as a last resort and is lying good money for her care. It took a lot for me to call being a holiday and given the treatment that was given out, I was not impressed.

The staff is quite nice, I never had a problem with scheduling. However, Dr King is argumentative, rude and arrogant. I'm 5 foot 9 inches tall, on my third pregnancy and was told "you're getting fat, and need to stop eating ALL grains" at 30 weeks pregnant with 25lbs of weight gain. Who says that to a pregnant woman? Not to mention one who is within the limits of her weight gain during her pregnancy. I'm a size 6 when I'm not pregnant, so no; I'm not heavy to begin with. When I told her that wasn't going to happen, she argued with me (I eat whole grain everything, and very little processed foods) that I didn't know what was healthy and not healthy and that it was me, not her who is getting fat. Not to mention that I was prescribed a daily antibiotic to prevent UTI s and kidney problems... when I questioned this with her personally, she told me very abruptly to take it. I tried to explain to her I have NO history of IT Is or kidney problems. I had ONE UTI 6 years ago, that's it. I… was given a dirty look and brushed off. My new Dr told me to stop taking it immediately so I don't develop an immunity to it, and that one UTI in 10 years isn't reason enough to be taking a daily antibiotic. Not to mention it was $140.00 with my insurance. I would NEVER recommend Dr King. She's arrogant and flat out mean. Even someone in her office told me my weight was fine and to blow her off, that she's just weird about food... which made me feel a lot better, but still... I don't pay her to insult me.

Dr. King is a very professional and to the point doctor. She does not sugar coat things, which can be good and bad (weight for example). But depending on your personality, she may be great! It took me a little while to get used to her, but I enjoy her now. She is very knowledgable!

Breaks appointments. Difficult to get rescheduled. Clerks at front desk rude.
