Dr. Sumitra Sai Konda, MD

I’m writing this review out of deep concern and disappointment following my mother’s post-stroke visit with Dr. Konda at the Beaumont VA Clinic. If I could leave negative stars, I would. After suffering a stroke on May 2, my mother needed thoughtful, informed care. Instead, we were met with indifference and a startling lack of awareness. Dr. Konda didn’t even know my mother had experienced a stroke. Let that sink in. A provider tasked with overseeing her recovery hadn’t reviewed her chart or been briefed on one of the most significant medical events of her life. That alone speaks volumes about the level of attention and care—or lack thereof—being offered. When we tried to raise questions and concerns, Dr. Konda’s responses were curt and dismissive. There was no meaningful discussion of rehabilitation, no coordination with neurology, and no sense of urgency. It felt like we were interrupting her day rather than seeking help. Navigating the VA system is hard enough. But when a… provider treats a vulnerable patient like a burden, it’s not just frustrating—it’s dangerous. My mother deserved better. Veterans and their families deserve better. I hope this review prompts serious reflection. We need providers who are prepared, present, and compassionate—not just checking boxes.
