Dr. Sumner Earl Karas, MD

Dr Karas saved my shoulder 16 years ago. I was had lost almost all mobility and was getting close to needing a replacement shoulder. Through arthroscopic surgery he cleaned up the joint and I am still using it today with no issue. Great bedside manner and a very talented surgeon. Highly recommended!

Dr. Karas makes nearly everyone wait for a long time. If you are scheduled to see him at 4pm you'd better bring snacks because all the other doctors will go home and you will be done by 6pm.at the earliest. I had to go to Boston to have my shoulder fixed after he did a poor job on it. I had a rotator cuff repair scheduled but he did half a job and then stopped and blamed his inability to fix it on my"bad tissue". It was fixed just fine in Boston. He sighed all the time when I asked questions like I was bothering him and he was rushed. Well I waited over an hour and twenty minutes to see him (and he sighs at me? ). Horrible man.

Dr Karas is very professional but has a wonderful bedside manner. Cares about his patients and their outcomes.

As far as I'm concerned, this doctor is a miracle worker! I had shoulder that was a real mess; one surgeon told me I would never regain full use and that only stop gap surgery would work. Dr. Karas took the challenge and did an amazing job. I now have virtually full range of motion.

Excellent Shoulder Surgeon Dr Karas did a full right shouder replacement, a few years ago. He is an excellent surgeon, he is a caring and both professional pre-and post-surgery. He did an excellent job with post surgical follow up and continuous treatment. I went to Dr. Karas because I had severe pain in my shoulder, where I wasn't even able to raise my arm over my head. I am back to playing golf again and doing all the the other things that most of us take for granted, with complete recovery.

2 shoulder surgeries later,could not be more pleased. Now can go into my 60s knowing that I will have two good arms from here on in.

Dr Karas repaired my rotator cuff a year ago. He is an excellent surgeon, was thorough and professional both pre- and post-surgery. He did an excellent job with post surgical follow up and continuous treatment plan with my physical therapist, which I credit with my complete recovery.

Thought I had a rotator cuff tear, and he was thorough and patient and saved me a painful operation that ultimately was not needed. Great guy, ignore the miserable drug seekers who wrote negative reviews, he is one of the best shoulder orthopedic docs in the region

I went to Dr. Karas because I had pain in my shoulder. He was very rushed and dismissive, and told me the problem wasn't my shoulder but my neck. Was very impatient with me when I insisted the pain was in my shoulder. Refused to prescribe anything for pain. I went to a physiatrist, and she agreed with him, so I did 3 months of physical therapy, and an injection in my neck. It got steadily worse. Went back to the physiatrist, and she looked at the x-ray and said it was indeed my shoulder. Now I can't raise my arm over my head without pain. Will have surgery to correct the problem, but will definitely not go back to Karas. A real jerk.

After putting up with shoulder pain, not sleeping well and seeing a local Ortho surgfeon, I went to Karas. He found my problem using the same MRI the other surgeon had. Operated 10 days later and was up front about the whole thing. He said if I followed what he said I would regain the full use of a pain free shoulder. HE WAS RIGHT - PAIN FREE. I have recommended him to alot of others having shoulder issues. Super Great Dr.
