Dr. Surendar Singh Chima, MD

This is the worst doctor I have EVER met. Unless you are of Indian decent, good luck getting respectful, thoughtful advice or attention. I sat in the exam room listening to how nice he was being to his patients. These were men and of obvious Indian decent. I thought it was ok if he was making me wait while tending to his other patients and running behind for my scheduled appointment. Not the case at all. Nothing worse than a doc who doesn't look at you, listen to what you are saying. I would leave my name but plan to file a complaint. I am in terrible pain and undergoing tests. Doc said I should take TYLENOL. Sad. What a shame. If you have terrible pain, a fever and have to work for a living, Tylenol won't suffice. Treated me like I was a drug addict. Seriously. I am not at all. Drug addicts seldom go to the expense and trouble of seeing a doctor for pain meds when a person could easily get them another way. NOBODY in their right mind would pursue Dr. Chima for meds. He is pompous,… arrogant and insulting. Wait til I see the specialists. I will be sure to share the advice for Tylenol. Can't wait to get my diagnosis. If it's cancer I will be sure to take Tylenol. God Bless.

Dr. Chima is what you might call an "Old School" doc. He actually takes the time to sit down and talk about the problem when I go in to see him. When I first met him, my former doc had prescribed Vicodin for pain and Xanax or anxiety. I spoke with Dr. Chima about this and his response was " I am not that type of doctor". Offensive to me. Insinuating what? Anyway, recently I was in terrible pain for a hernia surgery done improperly at Kaiser. Dr. Chima would not take my word for it when I asked for Vicoden for pain when you could clearly see the previous surgery had torn. This bothered me because you could easily see that the hernia site had "torn" and it was bulging. It wasn't until I went to see the "GI Specialist" 2 weeks later when they could fit me in that they quickly and visually diagnosed the umbilical hernia problem. Only THEN Dr. Chima gave me the Vicoden. I am 54 years old and know my body very well. I understand that Dr. Chima must be careful prescribing certain drugs. I… do not understand WHY he didn't just listen to me instead of me being in pain for 2 weeks. If I was a drug addict, I would not go to a doctor for meds. OMG. Then a month later I had a corrective surgery. I am having problems again and will see him tomorrow. He is a kind, soft spoken and thorough doctor. Every time I have made an appointment I have had to wait 15 minutes to 40 minutes to be seen. I am hoping that when I need "extra attention" to causes Dr. Chima to run late, that I will receive it. I will let you all know tomorrow.

I met Dr. Chima as a new patient yesterday. I realize that he needs background info on me BUT I am in a great deal of pain from a previous hernia surgery that appears to need repair. I do not have the time to wait 10 days for blood work and potential referral. He was nice enough. The staff was nice enough. I have called to see if he can put me on the fast track for an MRI or SOMETHING. I was a Kaiser patient and have no where to turn.
