Dr. Susan L Baldwin, MD

I have been a patient for ~14 years. I went into labor 6 weeks early when she was out of town, so I got to deal with several local on-call OBs during her absence over a weekend. Dr. Baldwin was the only no-non sense, clear doctor I encountered, so I have been loyal despite moving across town. However, I find it difficult to get in touch with office staff - what I'd pay just to be able to leave a voicemail at this point!? Her office hours are also a bit tight, but I figure that's par for the course to keep her work-life balance. Her office is also outdated, but that's minor to deal with for a professional, no-non sense doctor.

Dr. Baldwin is an excellent doctor... She genuinely cares about your health and family.

My experience with Dr. Baldwin as my GYN, overall was very good and my hysterectomy surgery that she performed was excellent and without a hitch. Is her bedside manner a bit distant, perhaps, I think it depends what is on her plate at the time. But I didn't go there looking for her to hold my hand, I went there because I needed someone who would be real with me and help me to understand what it was I was going through, she did that. Could she be a bit more informative, yes, but if you don't know the questions to ask, it's a bit hard for a doctor to assume what you do and don't know unless it's an extreme situation.I wish she had given me more insights as to what the after effects of the hysterectomy would entail, but I researched and got the details that helped me to ask the right questions that I needed to be answered.I liked her and would've continued had my medical benefits continued, but alas, it is what it is.

I would definately not recommend Dr. Baldwin to anyone! She is dismissive with patient concerns and her response is that she doesn't see this type of thing often, so she doesn't feel the need for concern. She has absolutely zero sense of urgency in my opinion. Asking a patient to wait "until the next appointment" to discuss concerns is outrageous, especially when that next appointment is a month away. Waiting two weeks to inform a patient of what type of, if any, infection they may have is also outrageous. Calls for test results are not returned or acknowledged. In my opinion she is an OB who doesn't consider a baby to be a living being until he/she has taken his/her first breath. As long as you can be put on auto-pilot and take care of your pregnancy on your own, Susan Baldwin is a good choice. If you have any issues though, and she is your doctor, God help you.

Horrible delivery experience! Did not receive epidural as requested,Dr. Baldwin only came in at the end of a 24 hour delivery to say I was pushing wrong. When my baby was finally coming she did not take the necessary step to cut me, so I ripped during delivery. She also used an instrument to remove my son and cut the top of his head. I will never use her again nor recommend her to anybody else.

She is a good doctor, very caring and very prompt if there are any kind of problems if they happen to show up. I recommend her to any one who needs a doctor, she answers all your questions and even if you don't have any questions she will still stand there explaining everything you need to know. She is also very trustworthy and your in very good hands with her.
