Dr. Susan White Chastain, MD

We went to Dr. Chastain for the first month of my baby’s life. At the first appointment, I was about 5 days postpartum, emotional and peak baby blues, struggling and in pain from breastfeeding and exhausted from a week of little sleep. She guilted me for even considering switching to formula by saying “I think you want the best for your child but am I just putting words in your mouth?” Then by the one month appointment, I had switched to pumping but when I told her I didn’t know how long I could keep it up because it’s hard to watch the baby when you pump, she looked me dead in the eye and asked me why I needed to “watch” the baby. Flustered by the question, I said “well what if she needs to feed while I’m pumping?” She said to me “well then we need to plan better”. This is just one of several things that she said that rubbed me wrong until finally, I decided I didn’t need this stress in my life and cancelled the two month appt and got recommendations for a new pediatrician. Just had… our two month appointment at the new Dr. and found you can be a pediatrician and not be rude and condescending.

She is amazing, caring, kind and takes time to understand the problem and follows up after the appointment if necessary. She is great with little or big kids. You can’t find a better pediatrician than her.

Some of the locations have rats and other locations are very dirty... The staff are great... The management needs lots of improvement...

You will leave your child's appointment feeling like a bad parent who is doing everything wrong. Any concern(s) you have will be dismissed. I was very disappointed. The office staff was kind.

She makes me feel like a bad mom. Like I don't know my child at all and that she knows whats best for him/her not me.
