Maybe this was my mistake, actually expecting a psychiatrist to have any sort of bedside manner or care for patient well-being, but I would've been better served sharing my issues with Mr. Potato Head. Seriously. During my first visit, I did my best to be open and share the issues I have been dealing with after a very tough year, and I felt no compassion or even interest from this doctor, who rather than offering her own thoughts, simply told me that I might benefit from therapy and then blankly stared at me and asked me if there was anything else I'd like to share because I still had some time left in my session. Believe it or not, I didn't have anything else to say to the woman who blankly stared at me after I bared my soul. Shocking. Still, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and returned for a follow-up visit after having been on new medication for a month. I was literally there for fifteen minutes out of the hour, and was again coldly asked if I had anything I wanted to… share. This woman is such a joke of a provider. I was excited to finally get into a practice that takes insurance, but I will not be returning. Patients beware; you will leave feeling worse than you did prior to treatment.

Dr. Gilman did not conduct a standard evaluation, neglected to make eye contact and copied my records for her report. I had to ask her name and speciality. She had not been referred as she stated. Needless to say, her recommendation for medication was not followed. Medicare pays for this?
